Cindy, I'm so very sorry you all had to go through that -- especially so close to the victory line and it nearly could have killed him. It SHOULD have set off alarms in the pharmacy and beyond.
Also, the nurse might be used to having to correct mistaken memory about dosing, but when the family member who has been the primary stakeholder in medical matters for the past couple of months says its wrong, you need to more politely consider that she has some very informed knowledge as to the protocol and take it seriously, instead of what sounds to me like a brushoff.
At any rate, I hope you find the calm center emotionally so that you can kick ass effectively this week. Could be that you'll be following in the surgeon's boot prints in each of the respective medical asses, but it's important that relevant parties get the message underlined.
Oh Cindy, I am just welled up with so much reading this. How many times do these errors result in catastrophe with no one advocating for the patient? Sending all my positive healing thoughts in your direction.
Cindy, that's terrifying. Sending so many healing vibes. I don't know if I would have the spoons to be enraged at the moment, either, but I'd definitely be saving it up.
Oh god, Cindy, how awful and scary! I hope he keeps recovering well.
For my part, I am taking the day to recover from the brass band festival, which was amazing. I sort of wish I were joining people in Providence today for one more festival, but I really need the time!
Holy SHIT Cindy, that is beyond unacceptable.
So I guess it is no longer the weekend, and I'm expected to work again. This is a very worrying trend.
Traffic was so great today, though -- I mean, I walked, but then I drove a couple trips through Cambridge, so I got the benefit of a kinda-holiday. I took one resident to get a flu shot (she was out the day they had in-house inoculation) at CVS, and then another two of them on a shopping trip to Star Market, so it was a low-stress 'off' day.
Tomorrow I drive a busload to see foliage. I may just head towards New Hampshire until someone stops me...
Flu shot! That's what I should have done today! But I already had my excursion out of the house.
