Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK, so no parading tonight, which sounds right. It was supposed to include a lot of kids and lanterns, so wind and rain would be no bueno!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I'll get a flu shot next time I see my doctor, in a couple weeks. Even if I forget, she'll remind me.

I have to send my work laptop back today and I'll be without a proper laptop. My own laptop is way old; it's hooked up to the printer and that's really its only job. I need a new laptop. I ordered one from Dell, to use my employee discount before it was gone, but I'm not happy about it -- the discount was almost nothing, I'm still paying over $1000 for a laptop that doesn't have a DVD RW drive (which I wanted) and it won't arrive for TWO WEEKS. Even if I get freelance work, I can't do it until I get the new laptop. I'm seriously considering cancelling that order and just going over to Best Buy.

Coding and Sleeping

I have this:

It works very well for laptops without an optical drive for those rare times I have the need.

This is where I buy laptops for the most part:

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, most laptops don't have DVD drives anymore.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, that's a bummer, Zen. Instant-er gratification might be worth paying for in this case, being laptop-less for two weeks is a long damn time.

Thanks, Gud!

I can't cancel the order at this point, but I can return it when it gets here, so I still think I should go buy one. I might get freelance work on Monday; I need a laptop in hand by then.

Our wings are not tired

For folks watching the news, the Saddle Ridge Fire is close to Kristin and I but we are safe. Our canyon is a red flag zone, and eastern edge of the fire is probably within 10 miles of us, but the wind is blowing to the west, which keeps us safe right now.

Our wings are not tired.

Sending vibes to the fire prone areas. May you and your neighbors be safe.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Between news and general Fridayness, I am completely failing at work today.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Same. I think I'm going to straighten up, go back and see what my to-do list is for next week, and call it a day.
