"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Steph, I would advise you to keep the numbers and data handy. Although the higher ups are capable of checking the dates, they probably won't, and will just see the feedback that you are not giving the authors enough time. If it comes up randomly (e.g. in a staff call/meeting), it will make you look great if you can immediately respond "Yes, I've noticed that as well. There is occasionally a lag in the process from the time when the article is ready for its second review and returned for submission to the author. I have some data if you'd like to discuss now, or we can discuss offline."

And if they say now, you say "here's the schedule, here's where the lag is, there's an average of X days of lag . . ." And have the list for every article, so if they say "what happened with the Jones piece?" you have exact dates.

You're not trying to get anyone in trouble, but if they are going to blame someone, it shouldn't be you.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Exciting update: Today I worked, ate lunch, and had a meeting! I'm really very sure I'm allowed to stop working now.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

So far today I learned that the contractor who repaved our driveway last year never closed out the permit so we owe the village clerk some paperwork AND that I somehow got added to a list of class helper parents at my daughter's school??? GO AWAY NIBBLING DUCKS NOBODY WANTS YOU HERE.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Iceland!

In case this brings you any comfort, it's been 16 days since the second round of elections for 2019 here (14 days since all the votes were counted), and we have zero idea who the Prime Minister is or if the current government will last until November. I decided to avoid most of the news and headlines until we have a stable government.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Did a fair amount of driving today, felt useful.

What's annoying is that I made a point of buying new sneakers a couple weeks ago, and what with the increased amount of walking I've been doing -- to and from work is about 2.6 miles -- and I think they're making my feet feel worse after a full day's wearing. I think I've given them enough time to be "worn in" and it's not working.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Can you replace the insole with one more suited to your delicate paws? I have high arches, and I can't wear my beloved Keds or Converse without throwing in some supportive insoles from the drugstore.

brillig

My Achilles tendon will make my life hell if I don't put heel supports in every pair of shoes I wear.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

There's also something to be said for switching shoes mid-day, to change up the pressure on your feet.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Well, it looks like we'll be spending another night in Iceland, since the earliest we can get out is Sunday. Which is better than Tuesday, which is when they originally rebooked us.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh noooo! That's wild.
