What is even happening?

PMM, wishing you all the best health and good results!

as a fed, the shit that's going down right now is goddamned horrifying. The Secretary of State is threatening to discipline DOS staffers who answer Congressional questions. He was told HR won't allow it and the shit is definitely hitting the fan.

Someone is going to die, I fear. And if the name of the whistleblower ever gets out, they'll have to go underground for the rest of their lives. The Trumpists will never let it go.

It's all horrifying.

He went to (made a dispatch from?) CrazyTown on TV a little while ago, saying Schiff isn't fit to "carry Pompeo's blank strap."

I am not playing Mad Libs with you. Instead of just saying "jock strap," he said "blank strap."

And to make matters worse, my niece's new dog ran away from the dog-walker today: slipped his leash and took off. We spent 3 hours driving all over town, put up 200 flyers, and she already got a call from some asshole who wanted $1K. When she asked for a picture, he said he would take the dog to the pound. To which she said, "Excellent, that will be fine!" since she already put in a report at Animal Services and the dog is chipped.

This is an actual season one episode of Veronica Mars. [link]

I hope you all are able to find the dog.

I turned the heat on last night. I could have done it a couple of days ago, but I refused to have the heat on in September.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Fingers crossed on the dog.

(For that matter fingers crossed on our democratic republic remaining a functioning democracy.)

I drove the Big Scary Bus with an actual passenger today! It's got a wheelchair lift, so all that had to be deployed, and even if I practiced, it's still much more stressful to be doing it by myself for the first time! So now I feel like I'm officially a Real Driver (tm).

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I am not playing Mad Libs with you. Instead of just saying "jock strap," he said "blank strap."

...okay. Sure. He said "bullshit" in a tweet earlier, but it's "blank strap." Makes sense.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Is it evil of me to wish this whole mess sends the "Healthiest President Ever's" blood pressure skyrocketing high enough to cause something to pop? Or to wake Strom Thurmond up hungry in his crypt down in the Capitol's basement, I'm not picky...

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

In the 90s here today. Supposed to be in the 70s by the weekend. Fall is weird.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Unfortunately, it's Bernie Sanders who just had to get a stent or whatever.

Ugh. There is no hot water in my Airbnb. And the issue with the laundry. Not pleased.

Thrive to spite them

Tomorrow the high is supposed to be 97 and on Friday 95. Then a cold snap and the high on Saturday will be around 77 and then next week it will be (hopefully) in the high 70s and low 80s.

I somehow got into a current events discussion with a coworker. One coworker , who said she is 38, claimed she is NOT A Millennial and Millennials are the kids in school and both of them were talking about how kids these days don't know how easy it is. And then somehow it segued into the older coworker saying that no matter how you feel about the current administration they are bringing industry and manufacturing back to the US and the current policies mean that America will once again be self reliant like they were back in the day. And coal will come back! I really should have stopped talking and walked away but somehow I couldn't.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I'm very sorry that I can only seem to duck in here for a quick post. Just wanted to say that Hamilton was phenomenal! Ryan was thrilled, and has been singing snatches of it since.

We're now in D.C. with 36-degree weather (97F). Mosquitoes have been devouring Ryan, we have confirmation that he's a nummy treat. Thanks to Hamilton, we know who to blame for tge nation's capital being built on a swamp. More when I get the chance.

Oh! And a reply to DebetEsse from so long back: I'm afraid you're right, we won't be getting out of Honolulu while we're in Hawaii. Indeed I think we'll barely make it off Waikiki Beach.
