Oof, Sheryl, I hope things turn around for you guys and you find the right ways to help Mr. S.

Ugh. Just did the video interview. It was stupid, and my answers were weird. And it was hard to see the counting down (there was a time limit on answers of about 2 minutes) so I don't feel like I really explained well what I was trying to say. Bleh. I mostly probably don't want this job, I think. And the last question was about pay, so we'll see, I may be asking more than they can afford.
There was also a written question about "how do you fit our core values" of like, integrity and dignity and compassion and blah blah blah. WHAT. Such BS.
I expect you present better than you think. OTOH, they may just be cynically looking for people who can fake it well, in which case you're better off without them.
"I have the personal integrity and compassion for other applicants necessary to tell you this interview process is bullshit!"

"Wait, I thought this was a job for a company in Trump Industries."
Mac has not selected a Transition program, but he has selected a therapist to go see here, it is a condition of him being allowed to sleep in this house.
He is also made a commitment to go get his license renewed tomorrow. He is starting to realize that his friends do not have any urgency about doing the things he NEEDS to do, or helping him in anyway.
I also found out today that he called my parents when they were on their trip and cursed and spewed hate until they hung up, so that is a weight of shame and embarrassment he is carrying around.
It sounds like he's taking steps in a positive direction. I hope for both of you that that trend continues.
Go mac! I expect there will be some backsliding, but this is such a positive step! I cross my fingers hard now.
What those smart people said.
Wow, the amount that I don't want to do any work today is enormous.
That all sounds like good developments, msbelle. Even the thing with your parents - it sucks but that you know about it (did he tell you? Because that is awesome if he told you) and that it's weighing on him is better than it could be for sure.
I decided to splurge on Starbucks this morning (side note: the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew has actual pumpkin in it! Yum) and they lost my drink order and were hella busy so now I'm half an hour late to the office. I don't think anyone noticed, though, because it's an off day for half my team and a few more are on vacation...
