I will not buy things for new house before closing. I will not buy things for new house before closing. I will not buy things for new house before closing. Good luck! I'm focusing on divesting myself of as much as I can ("do I really want to bright this into a nice new uncluttered space") but it's going to be a challenge as things get closer.
Brenda I already had a garage sale scheduled with a friend for 8/24. I am now adding 4 pieces of furniture, 50% of my books, and a pile of linens.
I'm with meara, hadn't known that Brenda is moving?!
Timelies all!
Mr. S is napping, which is not typical of him these days. Hopefully, he was just tired.
Ugh. Been on hold for my cable company for 50 minutes. Now I'm in a sunk cost fallacy of I don't want to hang up because damnit I've been on hold this long...
Yaaas! Posting that made them pick up. They "can't" offer me the new customer offer, but when I mentioned I also have Comcast available now (I didn't used to) they suddenly could offer [new customer plus $5], and since Comcast would involve an installation fee...sure. I can do that. Saves me $25 a month. Why didn't I call months ago?
yay savings! go you!
My desire to buy things is losing to my desire to save money. I DID buy something I can use at new house, but really need for here in the next week - but I bought it used.
Other thing I wanted to buy I contacted my mother to see if she had material I could use to make my own - AND SHE DOES! So that is double helpful, no money spent and helping her decrease the amount of fabric (she has a whole sewing room bigger than my bedroom and will also be moving - wayyyyyy downsizing - in the next year).
Argh. And since I called, I have not had internet. (I left the house for a few hours, but it's still out now that I'm home). So now I'm back on hold...for 40 minutes so far...
So frustrating!
Tonight I am starting to pack for heading back to B'more next week for house inspection. I have a free checked bag, so I am packing a big piece of luggage to just leave there and I am packing it full of stuff that the people who might rent my place could use if all their stuff is in storage and/or if they are just coming for a week getaway. Help me think of things to add.
So far I have:
set of sheets
towels
shampoo
soap
bath mat
shower curtain
utensils
plates
bowls
cups
skillet
big cooking spoon
spatula
hot pot holder
flashlight
pair of scissors
note pad
pens
deck of cards
clock radio
