JZ/Hec, try the men's department.
Hip/waist ratio makes that a problem unless we have the extra funds to take to a professional for alteration (I am
not
good
at mending/altering heavy fabrics like denim). We did find a pair that works at H&M, but now I feel like we need to invest in another half dozen pairs in various sizes so she can move up as she gets taller, because of course now that we've found something that works and makes her happy they'll discontinue the entire line as soon as they find out.
Poshmark. Always try Poshmark.
JZ, are you still getting juniors (odd numbered) sizes for her?
I was pretty young when I had to move to women's (even numbered) sizes, for the exact same reason.
While she's still 5'1", you might have some luck in petite shops, provided there isn't a brand she's dying for.
I will back up Cindy. Juniors (odd number) are both straighter cut and actually longer (I think the fit model is generally 5'7", while Misses is 5'5" and misses petite is 5'2").
Ah, Sophia, I should have said "Misses" right? Is "Women's" code for plus sizes?
Yes! Isn't that weird. It also used to be called "Missy" which made me oddly skeeved out!
We're trying a mishmash of sizes because nothing's consistent even within a single brand. Junior sizes have been a complete failure so far, and I don't think I've even seen misses.
Missy was the name of my dog growing up. I'm not sure whether the name would make me love to wear them or it would just make me sad.
But thanks for all of this--I'm keeping notes on every bit of it!
Sizing on clothes for women and teenage girls is evil and terribly inconsistent.

Me too, it also used to make me think it must be for juniors, not adults, because it sounds so twee.

That makes it so hard.
At any rate, I meant look in the adult department, rather than the juniors department, whatever they're calling us all these days.
As one who once had a really small waist and round hips, the straight-on even numbered sizes fit me better than either the odd numbered sizes, or the combo sizes (like 5/6 or 7/8).
I hate bras but have to wear them my life TOTALLY changed when I discovered these: [link]
