My mom's in the hospital again. She's OK, but probably not going to be able to walk much for a couple weeks at least. And I'm halfway across the country and can't help with anything.

My mom used to joke that maybe my bro and I being born in different phases of the seventies made us really different despite not much of an age diff. Hope your mom's okay, Hil. My dad's got a new theme: the internet fucking up human connection. Which is sort of like hearing from David Simon about Downton Abbey or some shit, really. My mom's back home, and she's doing better. She's walking with a walker, and was able to go up a few stairs to get into the house, which she hadn't been sure she'd been able to do. Nothing broken -- they'd thought at first that she had a hairline fracture in her hip.

(No hairpats needed) I feel that I tested badly this morning - it was an intro to economics final, but I was too tired to grok some of the questions. Combined with not knowing if I passed the other test I had on Sunday, and being so very tired, I feel like an academic failure before the academic year even started (bonus: I will be kicked out of the MPA program if I haven't passed Sunday's test). Yes, all will be better with perspective (read: ice cream and sleep), but right not it feels lousy. I usually test so much better than this.
