I miss my fancy colored hair, so I've been looking at temporary home coloring stuff, emphasis on the temporary. Like, I'd be fine with a spray or something if it doesn't come off on anything it touches. What do people like?
Spike's Bitches 49: As usual, I'm here to help you, and I... are you naked under there?
Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Just went with the realtor to look at a few more apartments. None of these ones would work, accessibility-wise -- one had "just a few stairs" that the seller's agent hadn't mentioned, one had no stairs but had an ancient elevator where opening the door required both arms and a not insignificant amount of force, and the other had no stairs, but it had its own entrance at the back of the building, and it didn't feel like it would be safe at night.
So, she's looking into the first one I looked at to see if it or any others in that building are on the market, and she's going to send me a couple more suggestions.
As you look she should also start to get a better sense of the things that are important for you and what appeals to you and should be able to refine searches. It's frustrating. I remember how dejected Pix and I got at points trying to buy last year.
One issue is that a lot of the listings just don't have the information about accessibility. And for one of the ones that we looked at today, she said that she'd contacting the seller's agent, and he said that it was right by the elevator, but it turned out to be a really long walk from the elevator.
The one that was on the ground floor would have been great if the entrance wasn't on a creepy tiny side street with barely any lights.
So far, the best one that I've seen is definitely the one at the old high school building, so I asked her to look into that one and see if it's still available, or if there are any others in that building coming available soon. (From the street, that building looks like there's no way that it could possibly be accessible, but all the old-fashioned doors with stairs that are visible from the street aren't actually usable doors anymore. The actual entrance now is from the parking lot in the back, and it's got a curb cut leading right to the door, which leads right to the elevator. Some of the hallways are kind of narrow to navigate in a wheelchair if I ever need to, but it would be workable.)
Hil, finding accessible housing is such a pain. Good luck.
There's one place that looks from the photos like it would work out great in terms of accessibility, but it's further from campus than I'd like. It's technically within the city of Cincinnati, but looks a lot more suburban. But it's a one-story sort of townhouse thing (is it still a townhouse if it's just one story? Rowhouse, maybe?), so I wouldn't have to worry about stuff like broken elevators.
Hil, since you're looking for an apartment and I'm probably going to have to move, I thought I'd try Zillow ... but their website keeps forcing me into the property owner mode. How'd you get a list of apartments?
Thanks! I keep starting there but when I try to look at apartments I get a dialog box asking for details on "my property". (And I'd buy if I could but - wow! the prices!)
and, um, I came across this story about a Zillow listing.
