Hil, why do you have to tell your landlord anything about when you leave? Are you expecting him to do something to the apartment while you're gone?
I'm going to be gone for a few months, so I'd told him that, and asked him what I should do with the air conditioner while I'm gone (whether to leave it running at 80 or something, or just turn it off, or what -- I've had issues at other apartments with condensation with stuff like that.) And that's when he freaked out about the clutter in my apartment, and told me to tell him a week before I leave, so that he can do a walk-through.
And there are a couple of repairs that I'd like him to do while I'm gone -- one of my walls is crumbling.
I hope he's not planning on renting out your apartment over the summer for Air B&B!

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought that. Maybe someone could stop by a few random times while you are gone, to check.
That thought had occurred to me.
I'm probably leaving next weekend. I think that, when I email him to tell him that, I'll also ask him to tell me what time he'll be here, and give me 24 hours notice, so that I don't have to just sit around waiting and worrying.
You need a much less emotionally involved landlord, Hil.
"What if the beatles stopped their songs to put *messages* in them?" And I'm like "They did. For years." Imagine thinking you were gonna own with that. Of course, I'm a fan so she also got my thoughts on Gerry and the Pacemakers. #MiniHecubus
Pfft! They back that up and turn that around! Ain't playing that shit with erika!
I had to laugh, though. You couldn't pick a more socially conscious band(Although I think George would be more about improving from the inside, but he also wrote "Tax Man" so maybe that's a little simplistic.)
I'm feeling a little less panicky today. Thanks, everyone, for reassuring me. I went and got a haircut today, and cleaned about half of the bathroom. And my sinuses are hurting like hell, but I can deal with that.
I'm glad to hear that, Hil.
