We are very close to buying our new house. Last minute negotiations are going on now. It's a 20s farmhouse and barn on 5 acres outside of a town called Canton. The barn has a guest apartment in it.

It's owned currently by a very nice Iranian (I think) family. The inside is in wonderful shape, but not farmhouse-y. The first floor has all tile floors--even in the living room. The bathrooms are done in beige stone tile with pretty inset mosaics--they look more like fancy hotel bathrooms than farmhouse bathrooms. Still, the place is in great shape and has a fabulous location so having fancy bathrooms is not really a problem! OH, and the bathroom out in the guest apartment is really a Middle Eastern bathroom. The toilet is one you squat over and looks like this: [link] Cool as that is, we are going to be putting in a regular western toilet.

That tilework sounds glorious.

Brenda, after my mom died and I was cleaning through her stuff, I found a note pad where she had written down various instructions on how to do things on her phone. The best part was a note that essentially said "I asked Kelly to show me how to do X and she said no". Well, ok then.

I have finally made it to the hotel shuttle. Whew. More than a little annoyed that the convention rate is $160 a night whereas google is offering $115 a night tonight. Seriously?!

Grrr, that really is annoying. Any chance of a credit on your rate?

Yay Farmhouse! Looking forward to seeing your new environment. I was selfishly excited about a guest suite, but not so much with the squatting part.

Congrats on the farmhouse, Scrappy! That sounds wonderful. As Cordelia said, perfect is having just one thing that I can fix.

My leg is doing better. The surgeon told me he wanted me to stay in town (already planning to) because he didn't want to hand off my care to anyone else. I like that. He also mentioned that the ankle was a mess. It's a little worrisome. The cartilage was damaged and that won't grow back; it'll either fix itself or it won't. I plan to take glucosamine and treat it nice and hope it wants to work again.

ion drinking lots of cranberry juice and hoping I don't have to get an antibiotic.

Glucosamine is great stuff. My knees can tell when I'm not taking it.

We have glucosamine left over from Kato (bought from the human pharmacy, as recommended by our vet). Although Tim's RA meds have apparently helped his RA pain (not entirely, but still -- yay!), one of his elbows has a lot of pain from osteoarthritis. Maybe he should take the Kato glucosamine and see if it helps.

The surgeon who operated on my shoulder recommended glucosamine. Interestingly, his younger medical assistant grimaced and said glucosamine doesn't do anything (on a separate occasion, when surgeon wasn't in the room). I take it anyway.
