Bill really worked for me. She's an interesting three-dimensional character, but she's not being presented as some special snowflake who was born to be the ultimate companion. The slow burn with the Doctor developing an interest in her well before running away on a big adventure was a nice change. And Capaldi and Pearl Mackie have great chemistry.

I really like Bill and am relieved we won't likely have an unrequited love story - at least involving The Doctor, I hope. By the way - Hi all. Been out of the loop for a bit. Will probably have an Apocalypse post on that soon.
I'm curious about Class, but I didn't record or watch it. I loved the reboot vibe of this ep (even down to the title - oh, Moffat, aren't you clever), and I *love* Bill.
I've *really* enjoyed four of the last five Who episodes (wasn't crazy about the Dr. Mysterio Christmas special). It's a foreign feeling to me in the Moffat run.
Definitely liking Bill so far. Enjoyed Class as well; I think it had a vibe similar to, though slightly older than, Sarah Jane Adventures .
I'm disappointed no one mentioned the surprisingly aerodynamic Movellans. Possibly my favourite gratuitous clasic series cameo so far.
The actual plot this ep was pretty thin. It was pretty clearly acting as a vehicle to set up the rest of the season. (Not a complaint, really. I do like Bill, and I loved "Is it my imagination, or is this taking longer than normal?" Someday I'd like to see a montage of every companion's first look into the TARDIS. Moffat especially seems to enjoy finding new quirks to throw into it. The vault and the "I made a promise!" business I'm fairly neutral on at the moment.)
I love that the Doctor had a photo of Susan on his desk. Dare I hope that comes up again later in the season?
Bill pointing out that "TARDIS" only works in English (and the Doctor's handwaving it away) was a lovely little moment.
Tying those two points together, at the outset of the series Susan claimed to have coined the term "TARDIS". Perhaps that just means that she came up with its English name.
Time Lords tend to refer to them as capsules, don't they? It's just the Doctor and Time Lords closely associated with him that call them TARDISes.
