So, thus weekend has been a mixed bag.
Successfully laundered everything that needed it for Rakkasah and got the first layers if my costume and makeup on in plenty of time to make our check-in time, yay!
Home-made sleeves were way too uncomfortable, boo.
Target had footless tights and scissors for not too much money, yay! And random other customer told me she loved my outfit, which is always gratifying.
Stomach started hurting on my back out to the car, boo.
Thought putting food in mah belly might help, ordered Panera rapid-pickup to take advantage if the free bagel every day in April while I can, also somehow qualified for a free muffin, yay!
Kept feeling queasy, boo.
Checked in, found my troupe, got the rest of my costume on, yay!
Too queasy to enjoy shopping for 4-yd skirts, boo.
Found my parents, who agreed to hold on to my stuff while I performed, yay! Also, the ladies from Burbank doing the Kazakhi dance with hobby horses were terrific.
Lined up to go on stage, kept feeling worse and worse. Other dancers reassuring me it's just nerves and I will be fine, and if I have to sit out the first dance that is okay too. Got on stage and in position and realize I am definitely going to throw up and make a break for the back door. Boo!
Made it all the way outside and off the sidewalk before tossing my cookies, yay! Very kind security guy gave me a bottle of water and a paper towel. Felt much better, as one does after an involuntary purge sometimes. One of the tech people told me my troupe hadn't started yet (the announcer kept saying the wrong name) so I dashed back onstage and got into place before the music started. Yay!
Have not seen the video yet, but it felt like a good performance. My parents liked it.
Picked out my skirt and coordinating pantaloons while the other ladies changed into street clothes, yay!
Kept feeling worse and worse try he longer I walked around, boo.
Parents tr s took me back to their house and drove my car for me so I wouldn't have to come back for it. Yay
Determined I was running a fever, boo.
Spent a couple of hours lying on the carpet wrapped in a blanket with a heating pad. Very pleasant.
Discovered I was not done vomiting. Blergh.
Got settled in borrowed pajamas in the guest bed with a bucket to hand and a bottle of water on the nightstand. As good as an inherently very unpleasant experience can be, really.
Felt well enough in the morning to eat cream of rice and applesauce and eventually drive home.
Do not feel terrible today, but very tired. Every time I get up and use the bathroom or get a drink of water I think about maybe trying to stay upright but decide to go back to bed.
