Natter 75: More Than a Million Natters Served
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I met friends for drinks at 7:00pm last night and when I left them after midnight they were THEN heading down to South Beach to hit up some clubs. And these were people 5-10 years older than me. I felt like a complete failure. So I feel you.
Something told me to go to church this morning so I went. Haven't voluntarily been to a church service in over a decade. It was... weird? But good weird? Like, I'm not religious AT. ALL. anymore but I'm glad I did it.
Ended up with 6 people at my party. Not all at the same time, though. Party started at 2. First person showed up at 3, stayed for an hour. Next person arrived ~15 minutes later, stayed for a little while and left. Little while later 2 people arrived, stayed for a while, then left. By that time it was 6:45 and the party was supposed to go until 7, so we figured that was it. Nope. After we had ordered pizza for dinner, another couple arrived and stayed for a bit while we ate.
sigh...
That sounds nice, though, Sheryl.
And I said I'd been at a friend's birthday celebration--they asked how old, I said 36, and they were like "wow good for her!"
Hahaha. They let people that old out of the house???
ION, my mother made that chocolate/caramel/matzoh stuff with crystallized ginger, and it's literally all I can do not to finish it off right now. I'm kind of offended that people call it "crack," but I GET IT.
This weekend I replaced the front brake pads on my car, put together two bookshelves, helped my daughter with calculus, replaced basically everything in one of our toilets, did laundry, cooked, went to pharmacy, went to grocery store, went to pet store, and urgent care for a tendon problem in my elbow. Now I need to pay some bills and set up some SSL certificates. It has been busy.
Wow, Gud. THAT is productive. We packed boxes, packed more boxes, went and picked up our U-Haul Pod box, hired two very nice day laborers to help load it, and they filled it up. Then J drove it back to put it in storage, and brought another one and they filled it again. We offered our sad old couch to the laborers and they took it in addition to their pay. Then our realtor came over and we discussed what else we need to do to prep the house for pictures for its online listing. Oh, and did laundry and rearranged the backyard furniture.
Catching up on last season's The Americans inspired me to re-watch The Day After which I haven't seen since it aired in 1983, when I was Paige's age. You know what I didn't have access to in 1983 at age 15? Whiskey.
Oh, Liese, I'm so sorry. I hope all of this upheaval turns out great for you (and remember that even when you're doing something you chose, change is hard!).
Lots of love to you in this difficult time, Liese.
I'm sorry, Liese. I hope it's as painless as it can be.
