If it's white, then I think the shade is too light. Would it otherwise be okay if you covered it with powder?
Otherwise, I found this:
There is much debate as to which color of concealer works best for cancelling out those unsightly circles. If your circles are more blue-tinged, use a yellow based concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone. This color masks the blue discoloration and brightens the skin. If you have more brown colored circles, then use a peach or orange based concealer.
So I think your instinct about yellow is right.
Zen, you probably want a peach based concealer. I am a big fan of NYX HD Photogenic Concealer: [link]
You would probably want the color "Light", as their paler colors are REALLY pale.
You also might want to look at the Sephora house brand "Smoothing and Brightening Concealer" in "Peach". [link]
Thanks, guys. Powder around my eyes makes me look wrinkly. I'll try the ones you suggested, Jilli.
Zen, I don't know where you are located but if you want to, and have a large department store near you (e.g. Macy's) you can go to the Estee Lauder counter and ask to be foundation color matched. We have a digital tool that takes pictures of 3 different places on your face and matches it to one of our foundation colors. They will a) not pressure you into a sale b) give you a 10 day supply for free (no lie, absolutely free). They can also recommend a concealer color. That way you can see where you sit color-wise then shop where ever you want.
They can make blush and lip color recommendations too. And it should be all no pressure, and you can ask as many questions as you need to.
Thank you, Dawn, that sounds excellent! There's a Belk near me that has an Estee Lauder counter. Perfect.
No problem! Now back to work for me...
As the clock ticked to the top of the hour, one of my co-workers started singing "It's the Final Countdown!", and another co-worker on the other side of the wall came in with the guitar riff.
And a mass exodus of the people who are off at 5 heads to the door.
