I was in my mid-twenties when I first joined TT. I love reading OTHER PEOPLE's posts on the old threads, but every time I come across one of my own, I start hoping fervently that sci-fi predictions of a Digital Dark Age will come true.

Timelies all!

I am the third or fourth oldest person in my lab.(The head of the lab and one senior scientist are definitely older than me, and one person working in the blood core has a granddaughter so she might be older than me) Most of the people in the lab are post-bacs, so they are in their early-to-mid 20s.

With luck my gormless youthful postings are lost to the mists of internet history.(First place I started posting was GEnie, if anyone except Theodosia remembers it)

I hate jobs! why do we need them so badly?

Mine sucks, but I need it to survive. It's a Very Large Corporation, TM. And they keep coming up with ridiculous NEW IDEAS with UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS!

Today my manager almost gave me a heart attack by telling me I was in serious danger due to the NEW ATTENDANCE POLICY that means having 6 unplanned absences in 1 year is a VERBAL WARNING situation and that I couldn't be sick again until October.

Luckily, the more she tried to explain it to me the more unfair she realized it was and appealed it to her manager and knocked me out of the danger zone...and no cracks about Kenny Loggins or ARCHER!

But, it's typical of this very unwieldy company that everything they do seems very poorly planned and guaranteed to fail. It's exhausting!

Yikes, quester. That's such corporate bullshit.

And the best part is every year just before the holidays, they let us know how badly things are going and how they will have to trim the budget and we get to guess who's job will disappear next! Happy Holidays!

Yikes. What are the chances of either a) getting his company credit card privileges revoked, or b) getting the charges withheld from his pay and only reimbursed when he successfully completes the expense report process himself? Slim and none?

I am so happy to be home, today was about a million years long. And now I am going to go to bed, go directly to bed, do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

I've already fed the critters and am now having dinner, so not all that directly, but that is certainly my mindset.
