We have to see the chimp playing hockey! That's hilarious! The ice is so slippery, and, and monkeys are all irrational. We have to see this!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

And now we can't even agree what we're voting on.

Because books.

Dana's meeting reports always seem very Waiting for Godotish.

I have a Young, who is 20, and while he's pretty sensible, it's still sort of half endearing, half disheartening to listen to him and his friends talk about the world. (i.e. they have no clue that they don't know shit yet.)

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I found out yesterday that materials I'd worked on for an external group—materials that members of that group had already approved—had been deemed unworthy by another, higher-up member of the group. So, in the grand tradition of things rolling down-hill, it's all come to rest at my feet, and I've been yanked off the project. My manager has called "bullsh*t" in a loud, clear voice. He's made it plain that this will have no effect on my upcoming yearly review, that he values my work, and that the reports he's received from the other people I've worked with have all been downright glowing. So, it's not likely to affect my job significantly, other than me no longer working on materials for Those People (as they have been renamed in my head). Still, it's been a while since my insecurity demons have had quite so much to nosh on.

Since I work at a university I have a lot of Youngs around me. On the whole I find them endearing. On the other hand, they're locked out of my office suite, so maybe that's part of it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugh, Calli, that's shitty. I'm glad your manager has your back.

Dana's meeting reports always seem very Waiting for Godotish.

That's totally it! Good call.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ugh, Calli.

Hold out for preferential voting to decide what you are voting on, Dana.

I got enough sleep to be woken up by what was either a dream or a stack of metal poles crashing to the ground somewhere. Have not seen a telltale pile of metal yet. More rested than I would expect from what my Fitbit says is 3 hours of sleep, maybe getting through today won't be quite as hard as I feared.

Librarian Warlord

Yuck, Calli.

I have my annual review with my Dean today. It should be painless, but that doesn't mean I want to go up and chat.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I hope the day isn't too bad, -t.

My team has longstanding issues dating back before I joined them (almost 3 years ago), and my manager doesn't do what's necessary, which is to listen to discussion up to a point, and then step in and either make a decision or go with the majority or whatever.

So instead, we go in circles, and my teammate, who is tenacious and opinionated, refuses to let anything go, which pisses off everyone else, and we spend 45 minutes talking about one process and leave everyone miserable.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

My young has tossed the charming personable child I got for 2 weeks for a return of the surly uncooperative one. Today he would not move from bed until I took his phone and threatened no electronics for a week. He of course knows "everything".

Our wings are not tired.

it's still sort of half endearing, half disheartening to listen to him and his friends talk about the world

Yes, I do at least remember knowing everything myself oh so long ago before I realized I knew nothing. It is only the knowledge that they will figure it out that keeps it endearing.

Oh Dana, I so infrequently need to endure these Godotish meetings. I don't know how I would manage them on a regular basis.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I was in my mid-twenties when I first joined TT. I love reading OTHER PEOPLE's posts on the old threads, but every time I come across one of my own, I start hoping fervently that sci-fi predictions of a Digital Dark Age will come true.
