It's a good thing I did my taxes already, because the refund went towards the $700 almost-entirely-new fuel system in my Jeep. It was being stubborn about starting the last couple of days, and with working 20 miles from home, I'm not running the risk of being stranded some evening. So now I have a new fuel pump, which involved dropping the gas tank, a new fuel filter, a bunch of new fuel line, and squeaky clean fuel injectors. And they ran an engine diagnostic and didn't find anything else about to go out. In the past two years I've had a new battery, alternator, 02 sensor, two new starters (one under warrantey, so yay), and a couple of gaskets. Oh, and new tires. But it's a sturdy beast, and I hope it appreciates that I give it quick care.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I'm sorry so many of you aren't sleeping well. I think I'm sleeping alright(at least, I don't remember waking up during the night) but I'm still tired. Doesn't help that Gary's not been sleeping well due to a cold.

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

I'm making this for dinner tonight and I'm really excited about it.

I haven't been sleeping too well lately, but I'm chalking it up a crappy new bed. Been meaning to get some kind of mattress topper for it, because the mattress they provided for us is pretty horrible.

I hope you all sleep better tonight!!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Budget Bytes is so good. I just finished a bowl of her curry lentils!

Our wings are not tired.

I'm making this for dinner tonight and I'm really excited about it.

Don't do chicken, but maple/dijon always a winner. So yum!

So sorry for all the sleeplessness. May tonight be most restful and renewing. I figure on hitting the highway around 6 AM to traverse the everglades and see family and do work stuff. I rather enjoy the drive and all the early morning nature activity so all good.

I'm VERY new to cooking, as I mentioned previously, and if a friend on IRC hadn't linked me to her site, I think it would be going way, way worse.

Yay, Everglades!

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I got all your sleep over the last few nights, I think. And eats: today the cafeteria food was rib-eye steaks. And Its-its. Nom.

Man, this whole political thing is INSANE. I was hoping Sessions would be forced to resign but it looks like recusal is all that will happen, and since there isn't an actual investigation yet, I don't know how much difference that will make.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Good: Saw the doctor and got a steroid pack which will hopefully get rid of this migraine AND my back issue.

Bad: Prescription never made it to the pharmacy.

I called the after-hours number and the guy is supposed to be calling it in again. Let me tell you, he sounded thrilled to be talking to me.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Even though I'm not a practicing Catholic any more, I am so in love with how the nuns are subversive as all hell. I still do the layout for the newsletter for the order that runs my high school, and the front-page article is about their trip to DC for the Womens' March. There's an article inside about how they work with a local organization providing affordable housing for Hispanic immigrants. And the letter from the General Minister (they don't call the head nun "Mother Superior" any more) starts by talking about how she was walking around her neighborhood and says "In addition to the green leaves of daffodils and crocuses sprouting forth, a growing number of tri-color, tri-language signs are appearing in yards. Their message: 'No matter where you are from, we're glad you are our neighbor.' "

They're just sort of like "Fuck the patriarchy and these bullshit politics as well. Also we love Jesus."

Yeah, nuns have always been great. My mother went to a Catholic women's college in the early 60s, and she always talks about how most of the students were conservative, but the nuns were radical as hell.

Or, not hell.
