Jayne (Husband): Oh, I think you might wanna reconsider that last part. See, I married me a powerful ugly creature. Mal (Wife): How can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people? Jayne (Husband): If I could make you purtier, I would. Mal (Wife): You are not the man I met a year ago.

I wonder if this is the beginning of the Trump administration going down. That would be awesome. I mean, the whole President Pence thing would still suck big time. It would be like that scene in Indiana Jones where Indy and that dude are fighting in the burning bar and the Nazi says to shoot them both and Indy and the dude shoot the Nazi with the sub-machinegun. We still end up fighting a big dude in a burning bar, but at least we won't have that Nazi about to shoot everybody. I can't decide if that's a terrible analogy or a great one.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Gud, the folks I'm reading on this are speculating on Pence going down, too -- mostly because of his categorical denials early on that anyone on the campaign team had talked to anyone in Russia. It was already untrue even before the election!

And of course Clinton tried to warn us, but fucking Comey and the fucking emails. I will never forgive the NY Times.

There's an alternate universe where Clinton has just sworn in a black woman to the Supreme Court, and the Zika fight is fully funded, and the Clinton team is working on developing a public option for Obamacare... sigh.

The local Democratic club is having a fundraiser at a country club. The theme is "Winning Back the Rural Vote." This seems wrong.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

If 45 and Pence both go down, that leaves us with the zombie-eyed granny starver Ryan, I believe. The man who never saw a safety net he didn't want to set on fire.I'm hoping the 45-inspired organizing will be enough to scare Congress into refusing to implement his entire agenda.

That seems like a very Republican approach.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

In rural America, there often aren't many other venues where you could possibly hold such an event.

I don't think it can be done. You can't turn the clock back, and I think that's what rural America wants. Just keep the rural population in mind when working on the future and hope they eventually come around. In terms of elections, the Dems have the numbers, they just need to get people to the polls.

There's something just wrong around Ryan. How can you both be a pious Christian and an Ayn Rand acolyte? Those seem like opposing philosophies. No wait, not seem like, are. Far as I can figure, Ayn Rand is his moral guidepost, and Jesus is his moral cover.
