this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My doctor's office, bless them forever, now has a service where you can get an online evaluation for 8 or 10 common (but also simple to treat) conditions/illnesses. Sinus infection is among them, which I am SUPER grateful for, because it's been over 2 weeks since I got a cold, and I have all kinds of sinus and ear pain and other nasty symptoms of a sinus infection.

There's a detailed questionnaire you have to fill out, including spaces for free text, and as long as you submit the form by noon, they get back to you by 3:00. I am now awaiting a response and antibiotics, and I never had to leave the house. Well, I guess I'll have to leave to go pick up the antibiotics. But that's okay.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

What a great service, Steph. I still miss our super awesome dr in NYC that would email with patients.

So one of my CCs I am over the limit on. It just kept letting me spend. NOT HELPFUL. I cannot even use my points to pay down the balance because I am so far over the balance. Grrr.

So I paid some today, but not all I need to. Then I reduced the monthly amount going to investment pot (for new car and vacations) and so when I get paid end of this week, I can make another payment. This is ridiculous levels of bad self-control on my part.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

-t isn't anywhere near the Oroville Dam evacuation area, right?

No, that's an hour or two north of me. Thanks for the concern! I am in a flood zone, which I still think is kind of hilarious in a hysterical way, but that particular threat shouldn't immediately affect me.

That is terrific, Tep! Kaiser now offers video dr appts that you do from home, I need to remember that next time I don't want to make an appointment b/c getting dressed and driving is too much trouble when I am sick.

I'm super glad that it wasn't a video appointment, because I didn't even have to brush my hair.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

God, my majority partner on this project is such a fucking asshole. Just got this in a email.

"Meaning - if we all need to speak at 8:30 EST, thats when it has to be. If you want to be on that call, great, but we can't now make any accommodations for PST. Does that work for you. "

Note how it's not a question. Common courtesy and sound business sense (at the very least) to include all stakeholders in strategy calls. I make myself available by 8:15 my time after I drop Matilda off. 11:15 EST is completely workable. And if it was urgent I could handle an earlier call.

I really hate working on this project but I've got nine months of unpaid labor into it, and the partnership papers aren't finalized. And our investor pitch looks like it worked and we're about to get some cash.

So, I can't tell him to fuck off. As yet. But God, I want.

Completely done with one work stack. And I now have 4 dr appts scheduled for next week. That has been on my to do list for a bit.

Librarian Warlord

My father is watching the dam closely. As I suspect hippocampus' father is. Engineers!

As you all may remember, I get feisty on the local listserv when people try to cheat their nannies out of pay, taxes, etc. Someone got on today and asked that everyone post what they were paying so everyone knew they were in "the ballpark." So I sent her a message off list to discuss antitrust laws, and, while they may not apply, there was a moral argument for not trying to suppress wages.

Also, our power is out and we are not supposed to get it back until the wee hours of the morning, so I might be cranky.

AWESOME. This is genius.

brillig

First day of actual vacation--eye checkup, all good. Doc baffled why I'm so much happier with unassisted vision than that staring through his thingie of many lenses--possibly because I'm not dealing with lens distortion, and near 20/20 without help makes me very happy. Tomorrow I take the car to the shop to find out why half the time when I turn the key it doesn't do anything. The rest of today: waiting for my eyes to not be dialated and ordering a pizza for dinner. Woo, I live large.
