Tough call, flea. Sounds like something you could do well but, depending on your temperament, sometimes it's worth A LOT to avoid Politics and The Man. t /unhelpful

I am moving this question from F2F...
I need to hit up one of our liquor superstores to see about getting a new bottle of fancy Whiskey. Not sure if there is any more St. George's small batch whiskey out there, but if so, I want it.
I kinda want to set up a "birthday cocktail" station for the party tomorrow featuring whiskey, but I normally drink my whiskey straight. Never been a big fan of Manhattans or Whiskey Sours. What is a good "starter" whiskey cocktail?
Sazerac?
The Old Fashioned is a standard.
Heh, that is also brandy around here.
Personality mix is SUPER important, I think.
Tomorrow's group brings together people from different social worlds of mine.
- My daughter who is whip smart
- her boyfriend who is a people pleaser so it will be interesting to see what he contributes
- a buddy who brews beer and is the most productive stoner I know
- my bff who loves puzzles
- my old karate training partner who is very detail oriented
- a friend from work who I don't know super well but is a kick to spend time with
- a friend from the stables who is super excited to participate and was a GISHWHES teammate, so I know she is good with the crazy
- and me.
Some of these folks will be meeting for the first time, I'm the common thread. I'm pretty excited to see what happens.
The description of our room is "Your team has been planning the heist for months. The mastermind of the plan has gone rogue. He sold you and your team out to the police and is planning the heist alone. You and your team have 60 minutes to get from the casino to the vault and escape before you are caught!"
It only has a 13% success rate.
Sazerac?
I do like a good Sazerac.
ETA - but using absinthe to rinse the glass and then toss is just WRONG.
Oh man. So, last night was our office holiday party which was mostly awesome like most things at my company but I got into a conversation with one of the execs where I figured out he was a Trump supporter and, when I talked about my bmore city hs teacher friend and how the kids in her classes feel threatened by Trump and what he's been doing, this guy said something about "those people" and them being on "welfare." WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! I walked away and we left almost right after and I plan to talk to hr about it later. But holy shit.
I finally called and made a dentist appointment! I've only been living in San Francisco for how long? Whatever, it's less time than it took me to find a dentist after I moved to Chicago.
Re: Lisah, I listened to one of our security guards tell me about being called in for rowdy teens to ask them to leave and he brought the cop on duty and one kid mouthed off so the cop said "you're under arrest" and cuffed him. They eventually gave him a ticket or something, didn't actually take him in. And the Teen Librarians complained to the security chief about the choices made and the guard talking to me was all salty about it. But, you know, you shouldn't 'arrest' teenagers for saying "fuck you"! This is why people hate the police! And anyone who works in a an urban public library with rowdy teenagers should know this. So I feel you.
