Anya: It's lovely! I wish it was mine! Oh like you weren't all thinking the same thing. Giles: I'm fairly certain I wasn't.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Congrats, Cubs fans! Sounds like it was quite a ride.

Y'all still asleep? I went to bed in the 8th inning because I had to get up early to catch a train

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I'm up! Congrats, Cubs fans! May this mark the end of the curse of 2016.

Job~ma, Plei and shrift and sarameg. May the universe turn in your favor.

My ex-boss wrote an encouraging note yesterday that our work is valuable and we shouldn't stress. I'm still stressing but it was nice of her.

Who wants to edit a stack of articles for me?? Don't all line up at once.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That must have been a hell of a game! When I saw the score earlier, it looked like the Cubs were going to blow it out. Congrats, Chicago et al.!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Well, the train is running and I woke to a radio ad from my employer so I guess I have to go load in A Christmas Carol again.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Hey, remember that assistant of mine who made changes to a manuscript and didn't keep a copy of the original? So today I found out she rearranged a list of references without changing the corresponding citations. So now the references are all mixed up. She claims she didn't know they were linked. How did this woman get a job here? How did she get a degree?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, we had that happen here one time -- the references page got detached from the citations and alphabetized and it was a g.d. disaster.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

I was mildly surprised to discover the world didn't end while I was sleeping.

It will be interesting to see what cheering for the Cubs feels like next year without the overarching sense of dread of the inevitable screw-up that adds another year to the drought that I've had all my life.

That sounds incredibly frustrating, Zen.

If Cleveland had won the World Series, after winning Basketball and Hockey (AHL) championships this year, that would mean the Browns would have to win the Superbowl, which SURELY mean the world was ending.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I just watched the highlights, and holy shit, what a game. I'm kind of glad I didn't have to live through it as a fan. The Saints' NFC championship game was stressful enough for a long time.
