I'll just jump in my time machine, go back to the twelfth century, and ask the vampires to postpone their ancient prophesy for a few days while you take in dinner and a show.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Juliebird, is there a tenants rights org in your area?

My day at work started with this announcement. "We're doing an hour of blood."

I wouldn't say no to curse-removal with a side of coq au vin, personally.

I don't think dinner is commonly considered a sacrifice.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Well, unless you're a god. Or a volcano.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aren't sacrificial animals commonly eaten?

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I would think that it defeats the point of a sacrifice to the gods if you eat it. Then it's just dinner and a show.

Internet says in Santeria, you eat the chicken after sacrificing the blood, and in ancient Judaism, mostly priests ate the meat.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

IIRC, in ancient Greek paganism, certain portions of the meat were burned as an offering for the gods, but the rest became a feast for the worshippers.

This was my thought but I can't say I've ever researched the topic, so there you go.

brillig

The best sacrifice would be the finest animal from your flock or herd, one you would want to breed from or sell. Instead, you give it to your god. The remains afterwards are secondary--and a great source of food for the priests. I imagine the waste of food really got in the way of proper holy feelings. A lot of time, the offerings were burnt, so not all sacrifices were dinner.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The gods enjoy the smell, the priests eat the meat was a pretty common practice iirc.

From reading, not personal experience.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

My day at work started with this announcement. "We're doing an hour of blood."

At least you do lights! An hour of blood on stage for costumes is a lot more in cleanup after! I hate blood-- I always suggest red ribbons. Or, just nothing-- lets pretend!
