Zoe: What's that, sir? Mal: Freedom, is what. Zoe: No, I meant what's that? Mal: Oh. Yeah. Just step around it. I think something must've been living in here.

I would like to report that the soup is pretty delicious.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

That sounds good, shrift. Today I boiled a rutabaga with a head of cauliflower, some carrots and some potatoes, mashed them, and added a block of Neufchatel cheese. It was very yummy.

Our wings are not tired.

Talking food, DH and I are doing the low carb thing and I wanted to try out my new muffin pan so I made these. Huge hit with all in the house including the guys playing pool. Will make again. Cauliflower, cheese, jalapeno, yum. [link]

I am making a version of chicken tortilla soup, but substituting Sriracha tofu for the chicken.

Oh, that does sound good. Dinner tonight will be roasted chicken, green beans, and new potatoes. Cooked by someone not me. Yay!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I took pulled pork out of the freezer, but decided I wanted chili, so smushed the two idea together. We'll see how good it is tomorrow.

Also tomorrow, everything has come together so that my mattress should not be delivered until after I am home from my interview! Phew.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

We've been doing one of those meal in a box services, although over the holidays I dropped off doing even that much home cooking. Trying to get back into the habit, and today's sorta-carbonara* was pretty awesome.

* like, carbonara, but with every ingredient swapped for something similar: spanish chorizo instead of pancetta, snap peas instead of regular peas, greek yogurt instead of cream... all very tasty, and to their credit, they didn't actually say the word "carbonara" anywhere.

Chili pulled pork sounds fab. As does sorta-carbonara. I have ingredients to make Dover sole, which also sounds yummy, but I have to get off my ass and assemble it which I seem to be reluctant to do.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I tend toward simple meals. Tonight was scrambled eggs and spinach with some chili powder sprinkled in as they cooked.
