My father had several bank accounts around town that he didn't tell Mother about--and no one else, for that matter. I'm not sure if she found documents somewhere or if the banks called her once word got around he was dead (a benefit of small towns). We always complained about Daddy being cheap, but I felt bad about it once I realized he was paranoid about saving money. Depression-era parents have their reasons.

I'm wearing an ice grey collared fleece, zipped up. My still brunette hair tucked in a headband with a touch of poof.

In the reflection in the (needs to be cleaned) kitchen window, I saw Leila from ESB on Hoth. And it made me smile. My childhood makebelieve was often Star Wars, and I always was bosslady, Leila. She was my preferred character growing up. And her portrayer was a force.

Funny, I haven't really thought much about her death, but that moment in the window. Thanks, dad and Carrie, for giving me Leila.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Would that my Depression-era parents had ever learned to squirrel away money. They're very thrifty about wasted food, however!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

My great aunt had 20k or so in uncashed checks stashed around. Most of them long past being valid. She had a pension and other income, so I'm glad at least that she wasn't struggling while having all that lying around.

Agh. I got a gift from one of the people who sorta reports to me. Not even one of the ones I feel like I have a bit of rapport with! People! Don't gift up!! Now what do I do? Get her an awkward belated gift?? And then maybe have to get one for everyone? Ugh.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Almost Hamilton Day, apparently!!!

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

You guys, the Second Avenue Subway is here, and I just rode it to get from therapy to work! I saved ten minutes, and I didn't have to ride the motherfucking 4/5/6 trains!

Sadly I don't see her in person--she lives in Louisiana. I've never even met her!

I don't want to be awake. I am really hating the late sunrises. A lot.
