Riley: Oh, yeah. Sorry 'bout last time. Heard I missed out on some fun. Xander: Oh yeah, fun was had. Also frolic, merriment and near-death hijinks.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

That is a very tolerant cat ... my mother once had a cat that had to be bathed for a while (flea infestation ... ick), but she would just extend her legs, make it difficult to get her in the basin, and then look pitiful and make sad sounds when she was wet.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am obsessed with this 'cat dancing' video

The cat almost looks like he's enjoying it some of the time. And then other times he definitely gets a "I will drink all y'all's blood and set this whole place on fire" look.

Speaking of tolerant cats:

I love that his comment is "looks like I survived" because my first thought was that that's a lot of skin to expose to flailing claws.

That's what my dog does when getting bathed, just stands very still looking miserable. The cats, on the occasions when I had to try to bathe them for whatever reason, managed to levitate and run down my back leaving trails of blood.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I should do stuff around the house, but perhaps I will lounge and finish reading The Obelisk Gate first.

I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I got all mentally prepared, put on my earphones, and fired up the database to make some updates (because the person who usually does this for me left!), and.... I only had a half-hour in me. Ah well, better than nothing.

Sigh. The orders that we started prepping for before Thanksgiving, that I told the customer we were ready to receive two weeks ago, came in today with a note that they know there is a 5 business day lead time between receiving the POs and shipping the goods but can we please expedite as a promotion is ongoing. And we will, but come on.

Mmm, Obelisk Gate. I just started the Dreamblood Duology.

I just started the Dreamblood Duology.

I really liked those, but I think Jemisin's abilities have really improved between them & the Broken Earth books. So. good.

Can't argue with that. I started reading her with The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms and fell in love, and she just gets better with each book. I guess Dreamblood just came out in one volume? When I was reading all the short stories and novellas of hers I could find I decide to pre-order this rather than getting them separately, which put me in that enjoyable drop-everything-and-read-my-new-book space when I got the notice it was available.

The status is NOT quo.

So funny. I really don't love the Broken Earth books, but I adore all her earlier work.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I once had a dream that Satan fell in love with a girl named Masada, and her love made him compassionate, and that made G-d so angry He tried to kill them with lightning bolts but they got away by hiding inside a mountain. I don't know why I remember that dream.

Because that would make a pretty good three issue run of Sandman.

I spent about half an hour standing around an upscale gift shop sniffing super fancy expensive candles to decide which one to get for my deluxe candle aficianado.
