The Detroit light-show tunnel is much trippier than the O'Hare light-show tunnel.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Even your talk about travel nightmares makes me want to go somewhere! I feel like it's been a long time since I've gone away for any reason.

That is awesome, amyth! Go you!

What the hell is wrong with their maintenance schedule?!

Oh, hey, I remember discussing that in B-school (over a decade ago, but maybe still relevant?). Airlines in general have aging fleets but scheduling regular maintenance would mean scheduling fewer flights so they just fix things when they go wrong instead making delays and canceled flights instead. It's not a cost-effective strategy but it makes future projections look better (because the full costs of the "emergency" maintenance is not really included (kinda like how the full costs of having an under educated populace are not included in school funding budgets, but I digress)).

I wish I could be okay with someone else decluttering for me, I'm sure that would be easier, but I could not handle it emotionally.

Ooh, now I want to check my airline rewards points. I think I might have some squirreled away...

I guess if they don't have to worry about losing customers due to lack of choice/competition, that does make sense. And by that I mean "business sense" and not actual sense.

I am glad to avoid O'Hare at all possible costs, but I don't travel much these days. Since having to travel with kids, it's a 100% easier to connect than to be on a direct flight because the connection breaks up the tedium of the flight. We were super lucky to hit all of the non icey-windows at both Cleveland and Denver.

We are driving to Idaho in two days. Trying to squeeze getting there before the giant snow storm on Thursday and getting out before the one that happens after. Though driving is awful, it's easier in some ways too. Just not with the dog and the twins.

Off to make pajamas. and two or so more pillowcases.

Oh yeah! I ran every day in Ohio, in spite of the cold, slush, ice and rain. I wore exactly the same clothes as I wore today to go to the rosebowl (minus the heavy hat and gloves) and I was as cold today as in 7 degrees. Why?

I also missed yesterday's run to ruin my RW Run Streak. Bummer.

Classic short-term thinking. Get me my bonus, I will have a different job by the time this goes wrong. Sadly pervasive.

ETA: Aw, bummer about the streak, Kat.

I avoid ohare in winter because I've many times been thwarted by snowstorms. A few years I flew southwest through Phoenix. This year, a four hour layover in DFW but ohare on the way home.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I'm going to do a big declutter after the holidays. We have Plato's Closet for clothes, so I'm going to take clothesv there and drop whatever they don't take for credit (along with household goods) off at the thrift store operated by a DV shelter I used to work at.

I'm having M clear out any clothes that don't fit and toys he doesn't want anymore while he's here.

Speaking of M, he was just telling me how not obvious Secret Service agents are in plainclothes. (He goes to school with Biden's grandkids. He's on the track team with his granddaughter and reports she is very nice.)

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

What 4 hours are you at DFW? I am like 15 min away.
