We have to see the chimp playing hockey! That's hilarious! The ice is so slippery, and, and monkeys are all irrational. We have to see this!

I'd say that's sub-optimal customer service.

Standby flight is delayed. I don't know whether to wait for it, or just get on a train.

I have a good chance of getting on the flight, so I'm risking it. If I make it and my luggage doesn't, then I'll have my sister take me to Walgreens.

oh, jeez, shrift. I think if the trains have a history of being on time, I'd probably go for that. Buy yourself a cozy overpriced scarf at one of the airport shops and take the plunge.

Did United at least put you up last night?

I started making stollen last night, and then realized it had to sit in the fridge for 12 hours. So I called in "delayed for errands" this morning, slept in, and now the stollen is in the oven. It flattened out a bit on the last rise, but I think it'll be okay. God knows there's a ton of stuff in it: raisins, cherries, candied orange peel, candied ginger, lemon & lime zest, and a cup of butter. Messiest dough ever.

Now I have to decide what to do with it when it's done. I may have to go to the chorus holiday party tonight just so I have people to eat it...

When this is out of the oven, it's off to the UPS shop to ship my nephews' Christmas presents. I found them a Calvin & Hobbs collection, and won a Coast Guard rescue boat in the office gift exchange.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Fingers crossed for good flight karma!

Oh Shrift.

I'm just glad that Google is creepy and knew I was flying today and helpfully showed my that my flight was cancelled. No notice from my travel agency. No notice from Frontier. All other Frontier flights are sold out today and tomorrow and the couple of other available seats on other airlines are insanely expensive. So, no trip for me. But it was a work thing that I can do on conference calls, not optimal, but we can make it work.

So, I'm back to my normal working from home routine. Which is actually kind of nice.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Shrift, in all the holiday nightmare travel movies don't they all end with some heartwarming scene?

It 10° now and is supposed to reach 20° by 4pm. I'm dubious.
