Natter 75: More Than a Million Natters Served
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Is a time rift involved? Does buying a ticket give you the coordinates to a time portal you have to enter to see the concert?
I would like the figure I had during their native time (or heck, just the face) and in exchange, I would be willing to wear an era-appropriate costume (including shoulder pads, because I have no shoulders).
However, someone else is going to have to do my hair.
So my daughter transferred from Mass College of Art & Design to UMass for her sophomore year.
She is in a suite with five other girls. She and her roommate want to transfer to a double somewhere on campus.
On her transfer form, she accidentally checked off that the box stating she is a felon. (She's not. She has never even had a parking or speeding ticket.)
Now, she has to submit to a background check, in order to get that removed. There's no background to check, but it seems strange that she needs a background check to clear up a mistake she made. It's not like the University got some wrong information from a law enforcement agency. She checked a box she shouldn't have checked.
Does this sound typical?
Seemingly, the National Weather Service had an, um, interesting graphic for Florence.
Cindy, it doesn't sound unusual to me. They need to make sure your daughter just made an error and isn't trying to put one over on the college.
Annoying and time consuming. Shouldn't be anything to worry about, and a good object lesson in why you should read the document carefully.
That is true. Thank you, Fred.
I told her (via text) to make sure she clears it up, even if she and the roomie decide not to move, just because she doesn't want to have to be explaining it for the rest of her life.
Her response was, "I'm aware."
I'm waiting for the cookies I surely earned by not cracking, "Too bad you weren't that aware when you filled out that form."
I think I just ate the cookie due you, Cindy.
Because I had the best-case scenario: They provided treats at the big department meeting AND it only lasted an hour, instead of the 1.5 hours scheduled! I feel like a winner.
Anyway, I can see where the college wouldn't just take her word for it at this point. "Yes, I am a felon -- I mean no! No I'm not!!!"
You are a double winner today, cowgirl!
I know what you mean about the taking her word thing. It's just funny in the annoying-for-her way, because she just applied and was accepted in the spring of this year. It was the room transfer form she filled out this week that she screwed up.
Ah well, she's very fond of reminding us she is an adult, so I'm going to let her adult this one on her own.
And apparently I'll be doing so without cookies.
Hello from steamy New Orleans. Really just as steamy as Fort Lauderdale was when I left. We have wandered and eaten and now he is napping. I showered because I had a case of don't wannas at 4:30 this morning when I got up.
A good update on my son. Small thing, but many of you will understand how big. I got home last night from flying in from NY around 10 PM and DH thought I needed to check on my son because I haven't seen him since mid July, and he hadn't either. I'd messaged him for the last couple days saying that I was coming for a visit, but no response. He had responded when I told him about his aunt's surgery and wanted to know how to see her. Anyway, the point of this blathering is that I stopped at his apartment and 10 something last night and he was all smiles and hugs to see me, which not unusual. BUT he was showered and his very long hair was clean and shiny and his clothes were clean. When he gets into depressed hermit mode he can get pretty rank. He said he was sorry I wasn't there a little bit earlier because a few of his friends had been over gaming and they would have liked seeing me. He was clean and smiling. I went to the door first, then happily got DH from the car because he was good. I felt so much better. I told him I would be back Monday and take him to see his aunt. Phew!
Good to hear, Laura!
My plane apparently has a leak in the brake line so I am back in the airport while they fix. I guess I am due for something like this, haven't had to deplane after boarding until today.
Cannot get the WI-FI to connect on my iPad. Woes.
