Hello from steamy New Orleans. Really just as steamy as Fort Lauderdale was when I left. We have wandered and eaten and now he is napping. I showered because I had a case of don't wannas at 4:30 this morning when I got up.
A good update on my son. Small thing, but many of you will understand how big. I got home last night from flying in from NY around 10 PM and DH thought I needed to check on my son because I haven't seen him since mid July, and he hadn't either. I'd messaged him for the last couple days saying that I was coming for a visit, but no response. He had responded when I told him about his aunt's surgery and wanted to know how to see her. Anyway, the point of this blathering is that I stopped at his apartment and 10 something last night and he was all smiles and hugs to see me, which not unusual. BUT he was showered and his very long hair was clean and shiny and his clothes were clean. When he gets into depressed hermit mode he can get pretty rank. He said he was sorry I wasn't there a little bit earlier because a few of his friends had been over gaming and they would have liked seeing me. He was clean and smiling. I went to the door first, then happily got DH from the car because he was good. I felt so much better. I told him I would be back Monday and take him to see his aunt. Phew!
Good to hear, Laura!
My plane apparently has a leak in the brake line so I am back in the airport while they fix. I guess I am due for something like this, haven't had to deplane after boarding until today.
Cannot get the WI-FI to connect on my iPad. Woes.
Clean and smiling and hanging out with friends who would have enjoyed seeing Mom. If that ain't a win, I don't know what is!
That IS good news, Laura!
That is not, -t. Although better preventive maintenance than scary stuff during the flight. Good luck with the Wi-Fi!
Brakes would be helpful so best to fix them. I had a minor delay getting to Florida but they moved us to another gate and plane because of timing.
So good to hear about your son, Laura!!
I currently have bruises on two of my fingertips from the stupid lancets that I had to use to try to drip blood on a card for my insurance. Such bullshit. And I couldn't even produce enough blood. So now I have to try to get a doctors appointment in the next two weeks. Stupid insurance.
In MA, new law for ride share drivers means that a bigly criminal record check has to be done on you -- which unfortunately turned up some errors for innocent working drivers, like a juvenile charge for loitering that was dropped and supposedly expunged for someone I know.
But the good thing turned out to be, because I cleared it (not a big surprise) I got put on the TSA pre-check list!?
I'm still waiting on my car to be repaired. And my roommate's heart valve replacement will be rescheduled to sometime in the next couple weeks, now that they've done further testing. The suspicion is that it will be open-heart surgery instead of the easier-to-recover laparoscopic.
Laura, as someone who has gone through deep depressions, I'd say showered and socializing are very good signs.
Good news, Laura!
Is your son undergoing treatment, or is he willing to undergo treatment, for depression or bipolar? Even if he's only willing to consider medication, that might help him deal with the depressed moods.
