I pulled my car out of its spot this morning and heard an odd fwapping/thumping sound. None of the lights on the dash were on, but it was definitely tied to the tires. As my car shop is three blocks away from my house, I drove over there to see what was up.
Bad news: I'd picked up a bolt in my left front tire. Good news: I'd gotten a full set of new tires so recently, I probably wouldn't need to replace them all--you have to do that on 4WD vehicles. Bad news: The tire couldn't be repaired. Bad news: The replacement they had in stock turned out to be damage so they've having one delivered.
They put the donut spare on and said twice to be careful driving on it. I asked if they thought it was a good idea to drive 20 miles to work. They frowned. "You do what you've got to do. Keep it under 50." Since I've never heard the phrase "Do what you've got to do" directed at me in a serious context, I decided to take the day off.
