I went over to my BFF's house for mellow Thanksgiving evening hang, because she and her husband stayed in town, no family gathering.
We ended up smoking a joint and watching...the 2012 and 2013 American Kennel Club dog show reruns, as her husband took a ham nap. It was completely random, and amazingly fun. I'm tucked up in bed now with decaf tea and a biography.
Nice holiday all around.
Hope everyone's is/has been lovely, and that Israel Buffistas are OK.
I also snagged a leftover drumstick, with the argument that I didn't have one at the Ren Faire so it was my due. Mom took all the leftover stuffing (there was not much) and Dad claimed the turkey bones for soup, everything else we divided up equitably.
Watched some of the football and some basketball while we heated things up, and more than I would have expected of, um, some guy talking about Wikipedia? I wasn't really paying attention. And then Mom and I watched Miss Marple while Dad and Walter napped in between dinner and pie.
Good day. Am home now, cats and rabbit fed extra feasty dinners, leftovers in the fridge, and no plans to leave the house tomorrow. Ahhh
Tep, we had a gluten-free pie (we got it because it was vegan, it happened to also be gluten-free) and the crust was really good. I think the brand was something like Naturally Decadent?
I cooked everything and it all came out delicious.
For those following along at home, my wild mushroom stew was fantastic and I served it in puff pastry cups. Because...puff pastries make every delicious things better.
Really had a good Thanksgiving - best for me in a long time. Things got surprisingly emotional around the table when we gave thanks. But also had lots of raucous laughter too.
Lovely to have Emmett here, and have both him and Matilda in the kitchen with me while I cooked. I felt very lucky to be their father.
I was cooking pretty much from the time I had coffee this morning and I'm dead tired but it was a very gratifying day.
Sounds great. I watched Oliver! and ate crackers while J went off to the neighbors. He got home early and we watched Brooklyn 99. All in all, not a bad Thanksgiving.
Hope you feel better soon scrappy!!
I went over to a friend's house (for the first time, as she just moved in with her gf) with another friend and one other person. We had enchiladas made from scratch. And cheesecake. But we also watched Pangs!!
I'm glad the unfortunately timed ick didn't get you down, Scrappy.
I fed Dad his turkey day meal, he fell asleep on the couch in front of last night's Warriors game, and then I took him home.
And then I tried to watch the PBS Anne of Green Gables, but less than five minutes in, they had
Matthew Cuthbert yelling at and chasing a pig, and then falling face-first into a mud puddle,
and I realized that this was not for me.
And in the absence of having the Megan Followes version at my fingertips, I watched the first three episodes of Stranger Things. Which is just creepy enough for me: any more and I wouldn't be able to watch it.
Good to hear so many lovely days were had. Things went really well here with a bit lower head count than anticipated. 13 with food for 30. So many varieties of wonder. And now despite still being full I want stuffing for breakfast.
I packed up all the food before I watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles with son and GF because she had never seen it. Then about 1 I heard DH doing all the dishes and cleaning the whole kitchen as apparently he couldn't sleep. Awesome!
Things went nicely here. I got to share Thanksgiving dinner with Amyth and another friend. Nothing burned, nothing was raw, and I was pretty happy with the sweet potatoes. [link]
