Jayne (Husband): Oh, I think you might wanna reconsider that last part. See, I married me a powerful ugly creature. Mal (Wife): How can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people? Jayne (Husband): If I could make you purtier, I would. Mal (Wife): You are not the man I met a year ago.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Devious nuns? Inconceivable.

Jesse, I'm in much the situation you are. Except my poor trainee has been flying pretty much solo since July 9! She said it's been weird & I don't doubt it. Spent 2 hours just going over stuff, but she was exhausted (having just flown in this morning from throwing her twin's weekend wedding shower.) And we don't have a good training plan; it's just braindump me. And I'm still on vacaybrain.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am sure we will both be fine! And our trainees, too.

Possibly someone is stealing my power! They've stolen my water in the past (which I don't mind--it's local homeless folks--unless they leave the water running. But that wasn't hugely impacting my water bill!)

I did a lot of taking care of business today--including canceling both cable and my TiVo. I may wind up regretting it (since apparently my TiVo is old enough that they won't restart service on it now that I've canceled, if I change my mind??). I've had a TiVo since 2002!! Like OG. But I just don't watch much TV at all anymore. Now to decide if I want to get like, a Netflix subscription or something? (I do have a Roku) Actually what I really need is my PARENTS' cable info...lol

I need to get better internet at home. Sigh.

My trainee is a 22 year old, one contract gig under her belt, first time living out of her home state. But she seems pretty adventurous, so. Still, she's MY charge, I feel protective & rather inept. Gonna spend tomorrow doing a massive whiteboard session on our system & crash course in Baltimore. Other hires have been a bit older & more experienced. But then, none of this was done for me & I figured it out. Still.

meara, I share my niece's Netflix account, and gave my niece and my sister my Hulu login information. Seems to work out pretty well...

I use Youtube a lot more than I expected, in order to see Trevor Noah and John Oliver clips. Plus since I don't have cable, it's where I watch new Steven Universe episodes.

Yeah, I used to use my old roommate's Netflix account, and she used my NYTimes account. But she canceled Netflix (I think she went with Hulu instead? I haven't asked)

Herding cats for fun

Had no idea Beverly's automotive past was so interesting. Imagine driving Detroit steel overseas!

My 1968 Valiant was called The Tank. It was completely reliable for me over the 150,000 miles I put on after the first owner did 125,000. All my youthful adventures were enabled by that car. I would probably still own it if it hadn't been T-boned by a teenage driver making a careless left turn. I sold it to a mechanic couple who planned an engine transplant for their own beloved Valiant and I've always believed that slant-6 engine is still roaming the Bay Area.

What a great car it was! I've had more comfortable cars since then but never one so beloved.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I have no opinions on cars, as I don't drive (yet. One more thing I need to change, better sooner than later).

However, I do have strong opinions on the need to kick and then let mules run over certain catalogers whose work I have now corrected for over a day's work now (misidentifying materials' type even when the type is clearly written on them; misidentifying dates; writing the general topic of the textual material but not the title of the text).
