There's more than one way to skin a cat. And I happen to know that's factually true.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Oh, meara. Argh.

I'm going to recommend these people that I used twice for my folks: Caring Transitions, they're a national franchise chain that specialize in helping seniors downsize. They'll move them, help sort their stuff, and sell or donate the excess. They were absolutely brilliant when dealing with my folks.

Happy birthday, Sox!

Good luck on the interview, Scrappy!

I just mixed up a huge double-batch of pie dough for this pie, which I am making for the division summer BBQ on Thursday. I've made it twice before, so I think it'll come out, but it's always a bit stressful rolling out a crust into something that large...

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Happy belated-birthday, Sox!

Much, much ~ma to all who need it.

As some of you may remember, my mother is currently with her sister in AZ. Their father died when my mother was two years old (my aunt was a bit older). Apparently my aunt has a diary my grandfather wrote. After telling us a bit about it, my mom said that "it's nice to suddenly have a father, not just pictures". I now have a bit of allergies about it.

Mmm, pie.

Thanks for the rec Suela—right now we are still in he "try to work with us" phase. My mom keeps talking about how she's going to move and downsize but actually making that a reality keeps being postponed for the future. She's now saying maybe this fall she'll go look at places near my sister (who moved to South Carolina). But I don't know what that would mean for actually MOVING....

Punishingly Intricate

What a wonderful thing to have, Shir. (Kind of the opposite of 40 yeara of returned checks.)

Our wings are not tired.

So much ~ma headed West to Pix and ND.

Pie! That looks like a big dang pie, Suela.

Shir, that is really lovely. So nice for the aunt and mom.

I am in the final stretch. Dress is done. Slideshow of 100 pictures of the couple as kids and a couple is done. Booze, dispensers, and plastic wine & champagne cups purchased and delivered. I still need to get my elder son and DH to get clothes, and get the photo booth set up on the Surface. And a bunch of little things. Like packing to head north after the wedding. And work for a living.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Ugh. My triglyceride and a1c blood work weren't good. I keep getting all these messages from my doctor about everything I need to change. Now I have to go to my physical this afternoon, and I really don't wanna.

Ugh indeed. Hate going to the doctor and getting lectured. I hope they have a better plan than just giving you a hard time.

I keep thinking I need to do something like a keto diet to get stuff all under control, but don't wanna either. The cholesterol and sugar I can keep fairly not too bad out of range with my current diet, but my blood pressure still sucks and I can't seem to get that right. Bottom line I have to lose weight if all my numbers are ever going to be right without meds, and I really don't want to take meds.

Yes, Laura. To all of that. Her advice is just cut out carbs. I'm not doing that. I can cut back on them but not cut them out. And I've been relying too much on soda lately for a caffeine fix since coffee is still making me ill.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I once had my carry-on searched for a suspicious shadow on the scanner. It turned out to be some Bayfield, Wisconsin cheese. As the airport was in Duluth, you'd think they'd be used to it.

Some career stuff seems to be moving in a good direction. If I could have whatever generalized make it work~ma available, please, that would be great.

Make~it~work~ma, Calli.

sj, my doctors are all about the dump carb thing too. Just the simple ones, sugar, bread, pasta. You know, the stuff that makes life complete. I actually don't do sugar, but the rest of the no-white is hard enough.
