I'm gonna need stronger anti-anxiety meds if I'm expected to leave my house and deal with people and also keep encouraging my child to become independent. I mean he drives me crazy, but I'm starting to spiral every day when I know he's not home. Rational is not my emotional state wrt him.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
And these kids we're locking up? They're gonna come for our heads and I don't blame them one bit.
Can Native American tribes grant asylum? Do they have that legal standing as a nation?
Even if they could, most of them don't have resources to support their own people. I don't know, but I doubt they'd be willing, or able, to take on asylum seekers.
Yeah, about that. Do you know if Australia needs 50-something eLearning developers? Asking for a me.
I don't see why not!
Well, time for me to go blow dust off the resume.
Seriously, I feel like I've been pushing against the tide for decades. Yes, there have been plenty of people who've done more (several on this board, for starters), but I've registered voters and worked polling places and donated to most of the less gruesome candidates of any given contest, I've called my legislators so often I have all their numbers in my phone's contact list, and it all feels like it was pointless. It's like scrubbing the walls after a toddler paints them with their own feces, except in this case the toddler is Trump and the 45% (!!!!! wtf?) of Americans who Gallup says still support him. I am sorry for the politics, Americans. You have my sympathy.
Remember years ago when I started the Good Stuff tumblr because things seemed so crappy then? Sad!
This reminds me of a similar story, though from another perspective. Years ago few friends started the blog "The Slippery Slop" (some posts available in English here: [link] documenting human rights violations in IsPal. They all got burnt out of it after a few months/a year+ and stopped the project in 2013. Today they too think that things looked bad then.
But hi, I love Good Stuff, so thanks for that. It helps.
In other frustrating news: I have a ceiling cat situation at work. A real one. Cats come and go from the yard via the ventilation to the floating ceiling of my department and back to the yard. At work they tried to stop this by putting a metal thingie over the window the cats went through. They succeeded, but they did so with a cat stuck inside. It's day three of ceiling meowing now. Poor thing is scared and disoriented. I feed and water him but he runs away whenever he sees a human being. I also tried to show him to way out using food, but that didn't work either. I've asked for a non-deadly trap to capture him and release him outside to reunite with his family, but the channels move slowly. And since I tried to capture it for two days now, everyone at work keep telling me that it is in the ceiling. I know that, people. I did all I can do. And I will feed and water it until I will get a trap, but other than this you are too welcome to try and catch it. I already spent good 5-6 hours trying to do just that.
Poor kitty. It's good of you to try to help it, Shir.
I have new hope for the world!! I just read my FB notifications and a friend that was arguing "the other side" about the family separation issue yesterday on my wall posted this at 1:31 AM.
I've researched. I've changed my mind on what is happening with these children. It's not right on any level. This has to change. Now! The guy that mocked the 12 yo with Down syndrome needs kicked in the teeth. I have a strong desire to protect children. I adopted mine as babies. I'm now raising my own grandchildren myself (with hubby) and I should have looked into this deeper. I apologize to anyone I offended and I assure you, when it comes to children, I don't care what their race, religion, or anything else is. I will do what I can to protect them. I am not a republican and I am not a democrat, I'm right in the middle. But I am human, my heart breaks easily. It really truly tears me apart to see this Nation divided. You don't have to like our president. But you should not wish for him to fail. I did not like Obama. I never wished him harm and never wanted him to fail. I'm going back to put blinders on and try to ignore all the hate. To my friends Michelle and Laura, thanks for opening my eyes.
We were heard! This friend has argued with DH countless times when he complains about Trump. Seriously, I have new hope. Not only did she take the time to research, she broadcasted to her friends her change of position.
eta: my cousin Danny is still an ass on the subject, but we are able to compartmentalize our differences and still enjoy spending time together not talking about the many issues that divide us
Yay Laura!
Trap is installed! Thanks to back channels and not proper channels, though. We now only need the cat to find it. Crossing fingers for sooner rather than later. (Update: cat broke out of the trap. Back to the drawing board, and convincing Proper Channels to take away metal thingie so that cat will have a chance to survive the weekend without feeding, for an open window is better than a dead cat that is stuck in a hard-to-get-to-place in the ceiling).
I also printed an FAQ regarding ceiling cat because I've been answering the same questions/statements for too long. "There's a cat in the ceiling. It meows". Dear, it's a trapped cat. It won't start a physics' lecture in Swahili. It meows. That's what they do.
That's amazing, Laura. But I'm still mystified as to what she thought she was defending without having any facts.
CEILING CAT IS REAL!!
