"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I set up a monthly donation today to one of the charities msbelle linked to on Twitter because I feel so helpless and don't know what else to do. Those poor children will never be the same after this.

Tea: I made way too much food for our annual Father's Day gathering this past Sunday. The advantage of this is that I don't need to figure out what I'm cooking for the rest of the week. I'm currently having cheesy polenta and fruit salad for breakfast.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I understand that the Methodists at Jeff Sessions' church have filed complaints against him.

Our wings are not tired.

These people on your thread, Laura, who both deny theses atrocities are happening AND justify them because they think somebody did something "illegal"?! Wow.

Yeah, the whole trying to tell me someone else in history did something inhumane and vile isn't exactly changing my mind on this being immoral. I honestly don't understand why people can't see the faces of their own immigrant ancestors in today's huddled masses.

One of my "kids" is a Brazilian woman who came here as a child with her parents. Went to school with Bobby. When she graduated high school she couldn't go to college because of her status and not being wealthy. She joined the marines and just recently finished her stint. Now she is an aviation mechanic and deciding her next moves. Her parents did not have an easy time coming here and starting a new life to give her and her sibs a better chance. Her life and choices have been hard, but she is strong and determined. Her children, if she has them some day, will benefit from those struggles. A whole bunch of other kids of mine worked their butts off to get and hold athletic scholarships to get an education and the ability to stay here. Many of these kids were sent here alone by their parents. These are strong people that I only see as an asset to our communities.

Damn, I just can't focus on the stuff I am supposed to be doing today!! Rage overload.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I've called both my senators, who have both spoken out against separating families, so... that's something? Will look into a donation to support the kids, too. Ugh. I wish I could do more. I think there are big protests being planned for later this month, so I'm sure we'll do that too.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Tom and I, for likely reals, will leave the country if things don't improve in the November elections. If things don't turn around (due to trash people voting and/or election interference and cheating) then, I think we're going to use the DAFT visa to relocate to the Netherlands.

ltc is not a fan of the polenta, silly girl. Some toddlers would say yucky, mine looks at me and says, "you know mommy, I think this isn't very good". Stinker.

Our wings are not tired.

I have to believe that people will show up in November and make real change. I have to believe that Mueller's efforts will result in jail sentences. Then again, I am still in shock and disbelief that Hillary isn't sitting in the White House.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh wow! They are super open, I guess -- I have a friend whose partner is a post-doc there, I think, and she was able to get a work permit based on that. Neither one of them is Dutch.

Amy, I also believe I have a sinus infection, so fistbump of miserable solidarity?

This is super petty, but someone just cancelled a meeting on me at the last minute. I 100% didn't want to go to this meeting, but I'm irritated because I had to get up early to catch the 6am shuttle for it.

I have a list of organizations to donate to that are providing support to migrants in detention, so I'll send money their way later today.
