Spike: We got a history, him and me. Fred: What? Spike: It was a long time ago. He was a young Watcher, fresh out of the academy when we crossed paths. It was a, what-you-call battle of wills and blood was spilled. Vendettas were sworn. It was a whole-- Fred: My God you're so full of crap. Spike: Yeah. Okay.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I've called both my senators, who have both spoken out against separating families, so... that's something? Will look into a donation to support the kids, too. Ugh. I wish I could do more. I think there are big protests being planned for later this month, so I'm sure we'll do that too.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Tom and I, for likely reals, will leave the country if things don't improve in the November elections. If things don't turn around (due to trash people voting and/or election interference and cheating) then, I think we're going to use the DAFT visa to relocate to the Netherlands.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

ltc is not a fan of the polenta, silly girl. Some toddlers would say yucky, mine looks at me and says, "you know mommy, I think this isn't very good". Stinker.

Our wings are not tired.

I have to believe that people will show up in November and make real change. I have to believe that Mueller's efforts will result in jail sentences. Then again, I am still in shock and disbelief that Hillary isn't sitting in the White House.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh wow! They are super open, I guess -- I have a friend whose partner is a post-doc there, I think, and she was able to get a work permit based on that. Neither one of them is Dutch.

Amy, I also believe I have a sinus infection, so fistbump of miserable solidarity?

This is super petty, but someone just cancelled a meeting on me at the last minute. I 100% didn't want to go to this meeting, but I'm irritated because I had to get up early to catch the 6am shuttle for it.

I have a list of organizations to donate to that are providing support to migrants in detention, so I'll send money their way later today.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The only thing worse than early morning meetings is having them canceled after you already got up for them.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have a friend who teaches at U of Amsterdam, Nora. He loves it, not least because the US is so fucked.

I just can't even address the current awfulness. Scrolling through FB seriously leaves me unable to function. I'm going to try very har to get to a protest on the 30th. I need to budget for donating.

ltc is cracking me up. I don't understand not liking polenta, though. Yum!

Have already had my morning meeting and it was smooth and easy. Yay!

Because books.

ltc is her mama's child, at least wrt to expressing herself. ;-)

::miserable fistbumps of solidarity to shrift::

I wish I could donate to help in some way. My budget still makes me my number one charity, though. Which is why I wish I could go actually DO something.

Aw, Good Things! I miss that.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I am not sure if it is a sign of things to come, but in our local runoffs for city councils and school boards last week, the dem and progressive backed candidates won. Candidates backed by the super regressive Empower Texas group were defeated. It gives me some hope.
