I'm sitting here trying not to cry in front of ltc because it will upset her, but I'm taking this one harder than I thought I would.

Wow. Yeah, I'm taking that one hard, too.
I got all choked up about Kate Spade the other day, too.
ltc is going to be evaluated in a couple of weeks for any possible learning disabilities. Please someone reassure me that they're not going to see that she has a disabled parent and try to take her.
sj, I'm sorry that this is causing so much anxiety for you. Evaluation for learning disabilities is about figuring out if there is early intervention that would be good for ltc. They will be trying to help figure out how to help her not judge you.
Thanks, Kat. It's just always in the back of your mind when you're a disabled parent. It was also TCG's first thought. People are very judgementsl about adaptions I have to make as a parent. It's not uncommon for ltc to get pitying looks for having me as a parent.
Yeah, the Anthony Bourdain news hurts a lot.
Hearing about Anthony Bourdain has really thrown me, too.
Sorry to say the Bourdain news doesn't surprise me a bit.
Suzi, what you described struck me as maybe a warning sign of something going wrong with your dad's executive function too. But you'd be the best judge of whether it could be that or just his personality at work—people do get more curmudgeonly as they age, after all.
I am seeing so much pain about Anthony Bourdain this morning. I do have some good news to share - my coworker's 6 year old is home from the hopsital and it turns out this was NOT a recurrance of his cancer. He had a lesion removed, but it is a benign tumor unrelated to his previous cancer.
Yay! That's good news!
