I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm having shrimp and grits for lunch, and I feel like I need to explain to someone that it is not Shrimp and Grits, it's just grits that I have topped with "barbecue" shrimp, Tasty, but I'm fairly sure not what Nora, for example, would expect.

I'm very pleased to have figured out a successful grits making strategy, btw. It is not something I have had in my skill set.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Maybe you mean grits with shrimp?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Dying on endless conference call.

Plus side: It's about an investor pitch where the investors are hot to trot, which means I'd get back pay for all the months of unpaid work I've done on this thing.

So...that's worth it.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I was pseudo dieting over the weekend, but I don't think missing meals due to sleeping in has much of a net effect.

Steph, I would advise you to save the e-mail chain for the inevitable questions from the Editor-in-Chief. (For what it's worth, I tend to run into the opposite situation where my counterpart in Print Coordination raises questions about making major changes after something has been approved as is by the EiC or the Big Boss. She's technically the last set of eyes to look at outgoing products, but I wish she'd do a thorough review pass BEFORE it goes to the bigwigs instead of just rubber stamping at that point so she could raise these issues before things are approved as final.)

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I just got my diet back to vaguely healthsome after the post-election eating of feelings. Salad actually tasted really good last night. OK, the bacon crumbles probably helped. Still--salad.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Bacon has protein. Maybe not the healthiest source of protein, but at least not empty calories. And better than most of what I've been eating lately.

I save all my work emails because I'm paranoid.

Only the eating-my-feelings diet.

Though, for the record, I did buy Brussels sprouts yesterday. So I could roast them and put bacon on them.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I have been totally surgeried. Local hasn't worn off yet.
