'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Seeing driving behavior in Boston, I've discovered there's a definite difference between aggressive and assertive. Assertive means that you want to claim your share of the road, aggressive means that you're actively trying to steal it from other people.

Some of Boston's worst drivers are people who say please and thank you, hold the door for you, would never dream of cutting in line at the grocery store. Yet get them behind the wheel. SIGH.

Punishingly Intricate

The outrage of "Someone's getting away with something!" over petty things exhausts me.

This.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I'm kind of glad we're driving to CT in a couple weeks, rather than flying. It is a long drive with a toddler, but flying with him would be more of a pain. Our next flight is in August (flying to Worldcon in San Jose) and is a much longer flight than he's ever taken, but we'll deal.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'll certainly admit to having called out a loud-enough-for-public-embarrassment "The line ends behind me back there" to people who were trying to slip in.

But that's actually causing you measurable harm. Pretty minor, maybe, but something.

Our wings are not tired.

With the rage overload over the big important stuff happening on a daily basis I'm not really left with the spoons to get ragy about the petty stuff. Have to admit though that sometimes it is the little stuff that hits at the wrong moment.

Judging whether someone needs early boarding or parking in handicap, not so much. Although I might give a side eye to some 'service' pets in the grocery store.

I will own my crotchetiness and say I'd rather have most of those pets rather than most of the kids in the grocery store.

Our wings are not tired.

Right now my massive annoyance is a whole slew of people telling my nephew's fiance that he needs to have a sleep study because he must have sleep apnea because he snores. His mother chiming in with testimony that both she and his grandmother have sleep apnea, so he should get the study done. His mother and grandmother are both seriously obese and he is an athletic mid 20s guy in great shape. People with sleep apnea often snore, but the vast majority of people who snore don't have apnea!!

Phew, got that off my chest.

The father of my childhood friends died today. I say friends, because while A was my age & my buddy, the three other siblings were equally my playmates & friends. We grew up in each others' houses, living next door to each other until high school, and then carpooling in high school ( & the younger to the middle school) until graduation. Victor wasn't a dad to me, but he was family, in a way. He coached my brother's soccer, took me with the rest of the kids to their grandparents' house so often they'd ask when I wasn't with...

He was younger than my parents,

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Aw, sarameg, I'm sorry to hear that.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Ugh. I'm sorry it's been a shit day (or few days) for people.

sarameg, I'm so sorry.
