Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please? Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh fuck, expense report. I have one of those I'm about to be too late to submit, too. OH WELL.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Laura, just adding to the chorus of NCistas: would love to see you if you come through NC!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I reallllly don't want to spend the last hour of my week working. But I had better give my list a run-through and see if there is anything I should follow up on, at least.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Sorry for all y'all who are working. I took the dog for a run, did some pruning, kneaded some bread dough, bought some clothes, and had a late lunch (fish tacos and an IPA). Now I'm killing time until the winery is open so I can pick up some rose, and then home for a nap. Later I'm having a massage.

Usually my days off are less fun, but I'm spending all day tomorrow ushering for Angels In America, which will have me on duty for about 8 hours. Considering taking a Lyft home from the theater...

brillig

I have discovered another wonderful British show: The Hairy Bikers, two blokes who love cooking and motorcycles, who toodle around being cheerful and silly as they look for good cooks and fun places to do cooking in.

ION, I finally ran into rude Canadians on the phone, though not completely rude, they did apologize for the amount of profanity they were slinging around in the background.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The joys of producing a help build for a software release while working against the clock for not only the deadline but my coworker's vacation that starts tomorrow and also she had to pack tonight so she left early and this is the third 12-hour day in a row which I know is not unusual for some of you but it's really too much for me and my head hurts and I was fixing mistakes by manually editing HTML and PDF files and I'm hungry but it's really too late for dinner.

Woot, the final build just finished checking in. To hell with you, work computer.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ugh, Dana. That sounds terrible.

Y'all. Another small fucking lesbian world story:

So I met this girl a while back through dancing. Call her K. She was living in atlanta but visited seattle and I introduced myself. She and her wife ended up moving up here a year or so ago, and I see them occasionally. Tonight she and I were talking and she mentioned that her wife went to a particular women's college. I asked when she graduated, and said we probably knew people in common—even though she graduated five years after me and my friends did.

So we brainstormed a second...and I mentioned one person from there who id heard was living out here. Yeah. Turns out my old roommate's gf from 2001 is married to K's wife's ex girlfriend. Yep. AND I probably met her wife back then (because I did meet the exgf at that point, and that's around when they were dating). Even though I didn't go there, know all of two people from that era, and never lived in the same city as any of them until K and her wife moved here a year ago.
