Quiet Tuesday.
I've been a bit more engaged in FB recently because I joined the NYT's Reader Center Group. There are only a few hundred in the group and the admins or members will link to an article and discuss away. A range of geographic and demographic members, although clearly left leaning for the most part. I think I got an invite because of being a subscriber originally, then it was a delay of some time before being accepted. If anyone here is interested in these types of groups check out the header here. [link] - I can always send an invite from inside the group too if you are interested. I think it is rather a new group, but it seems promising for current event type discussions.
So I got a work invite to an employee assistance program seminar (not weird), titles Clean living". It mentions "detox". Is it wrong for me to sign up for it simply so that if it is full of bullshit fake science I can complain? Because...
It probably would be more effective to complain if you signed up. Unfortunately.
Timelies all!
The weather is nice here today. Wish I could go out and enjoy it, but there's that pesky work thing...

That seems all right.
After work, I went and saw an old friend giving a talk on campus, which was very cool, except the best parts were in French. Which I don't speak. Ah well.
Tep, my sock recommendation are the short sockwells (unless you have a thing with wool). They do not slide and they are a little compressiony around my arch which helps with plantar fasciitis.

Oddly enough, I can't wear wool sweaters or scarves, but I'm fine with wool socks.
Ugh. Emmett has mono and he's had to go to the ER twice in two nights. Four hours last night (to confirm he didn't have strep on top of Mono.) And he's back tonight because he's coughing up blood. (Most probably because his tonsils are raw and inflamed.)
Poor guy. And he's got a final tomorrow. A biology final! You can't fluff your way through a bio final!
If he has mono and is coughing up blood, I'm pretty sure he can ask to get the test postponed.
Any decent bio prof would let him make up the final. (As I like to tell my students, "That's not the type of microbiology I want us to be doing!")
