Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Timing the market is impossible to do reliably, they say.

Yeah, apparently.

I made it to the mid-season finale of B99, but I don't think I'll actually catch up before Will Shortz is on tonight's episode! Which issue makes me feel more like Amy than I ever have.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Quiet Sunday here. (well, as quiet as it could be with Mr. S around...)

Our wings are not tired.

Off shortly to a wake. Guy we used to work with got pancreatic cancer. Found out then was gone within a month. DH visited him in the hospital a couple days before he was gone. Funeral mass is tomorrow.

brillig

I went for a drive and went out to the lake. There are several places to pull over and look out over the lake and listen to the silence. Other cars pulled over at various distances on both sides of the road and turned off their engines. No one got out of their cars. No movement and no sound but the wind for twenty minutes. It was like a scene out of a Sergio Leone movie or French mystery. The occasional car drove past, the drivers staring at us.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We are firmly in the toddler eating stage where everything I give her that isn't fruit or cheese is icky.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I so misread "toddler eating stage" at first

fruit and cheese is practically a balanced diet, she'll be fine - as long as you don't eat her!

I do threaten to eat her cheeks at least once a day.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Heck, if I do fruit and cheese all day, I consider myself to be doing pretty well at age 47!

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Our wings are not tired.

My mother was concerned when all I would eat was peanut butter, but the doctor said I would be fine. I am confident that she will survive the fruit and cheese stage too. Actually, it sounds mighty good to me. All I would need to add is wine and I'd be set.
