"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

We generally treat coffee creamer and condiments as open for general use at my office, but other than that if it's in the fridge it belongs to someone specific. Community treats get put out on the kitchen table.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

How bizarre! I can imagine an explanation - like if she for some reason thought it was her shrimp fried rice from last week - but that she didn't offer any and shows no remorse is disturbing.

Realized this morning that I somehow was out of matzo meal, so ran to the store. They were actually out of kosher-for-Passover matzo meal, of course, but there were still some jars of Manischewitz matzo ball soup available, so Seder is saved.

In the process of making charoset.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I miss being invited to Seders. Several of our closest family friends when I was growing up were Jewish, so we went to at least one Seder every year (plus Hanukkah, bar/bat mitzvahs, and probably other celebrations I'm forgetting too). I never realized until I was an adult and raising my own children just how much I loved, and miss, being a part of those celebrations -- they formed a big part of my religious upbringing, as the child of two lapsed Protestants who had no interest in Christianity beyond Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

Anyway, I keep hoping I'll be invited to another Seder, but so far I haven't had much luck making friends in Nashville who are Jewish. I might have to make a trek down to Montgomery, AL one of these years to celebrate with an old college friend who lives there now.

Our wings are not tired.

I never went to a Seder growing up but have a number of times as an adult. The friend that usually hosts is in Vegas this year for Passover so not this year probably. It will be a good distraction for her because she just lost her mom a couple months ago and she was having a time thinking about her first one without her. We did Passover with her and she would come for Easter dinner with us.

The kids and DIL's parents coming to Easter dinner at my house this year. Just decided that today. Since it is so slow I shall share the menu.

Spicy Thai Soup - (bok choy, mushrooms, savory broth) Noche Buena salad - lettuce/beets/oranges/jicama/apple/nuts - Soy & Ginger glazed salmon - vegetable stir-fried rice

#2 son will bring surprise adult beverages as he enjoys doing, and in-laws will bring dessert. #1 son will eat the fish, and maybe dessert. He is super picky. He'll eat fruit plain, but not in a salad looking setting. They both are super helpful and handy for the prep and cooking.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

We're sedering for just us this year, which is a little small (we often celebrate with friends but they're out of town this year), but satisfying in a different way and MUCH less exhausting.

Happy fuck you slavery day to all, and a good easter weekend to you easterites as well!

Happy fuck you slavery day!

I took the dog for a long slow run in the woods, then got my brows tinted and bought a new shirt, and bought chicken for Easter dinner, and did a bunch of laundry. Now I'm lounging on the porch with some rose and a book. There are worse ways to spend a day off.

That sounds yum, Laura!

I'm sedering solo this year, which is not sound practice but it's all I can handle right now. If I can get myself together enough to have guests I will definitely invite you, Kate!

I'm doing a lamb and sweet potato sheet pan dinner (roasting the egg at the same time) and I splurged on paper Seder plates and made sure I have all the stuff to go on it, so it's pretty official. Considering reading this Haggadah [link]

Just about time to open the wine and preheat the oven. Happy fuck-you-slavery day everyone!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ha! Happy fuck-you-slavery day!

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I'm sedering solo this year,

It's you and Elijah.
