Hey there birthday goth, how is your day going?
Hmm, nope! Meeting was about how they're changing one of the other positions at the company and what they're responsible for. But I don't think it'll actually affect my project much.

Busy, because work deadlines wait for no birthdays. But other than that, it's good! Lots of people have wished me happy things, Pete spoiled me with goodies, and we're going out to dinner tonight.
I'm always sad for people who have to work on their birthdays.
Good luck, David!

Oh, that's even weirder/more annoying -- a last minute "quick meeting" that DOESN'T change anything significant? Feels like high blood pressure for no reason to me.
I sleep with a mouthguard, but lately I need to either wear it during the day or keep my tongue between my teeth to keep from grinding.
I basically do the second one all the time.
To make my life complete, my office is having a team building thing on Friday. Our head person let something drop and I've figured out that it's going to be one of those locked room deals.
At least one of my team members is DYING to do one of those. I'm kind of into it, but apparently not enough to actually schedule it!

Guess it's time for Bring a Chainsaw to Work Day.
Officially, I am on vacation! (Although I am answering questions about a journal I edit for the publisher, who pulled a new person in who seems not to know what he's supposed to be doing - this was supposed to solve the publishing problem we had with the last issue, when it took them more than a month to send out an email announcement.) Tomorrow I am packing and doing things like clean out the fridge before we go to Chile, whoo-hoo!
Nice, Sparky1! Enjoy the well deserved vacay.

I want to have one of those days...though since I work from home...maybe not. Work rumors are that the last round of RIFs are this week - yesterday/today. I've heard about a few folks that I don't know, but this is supposed to be the biggest of all the cuts. Then on the 28th we find out where we are going to be sorted in the big reorganization that is happening. I may have a new supervisor, though my old supervisor would finish out this year and handle my annual review. I have LOVED having my supervisor be someone I know and who I can go in the office to talk with as needed.
I've been trying to keep a positive attitude about all the work changes - systems, organization, supervisor, work shifting to Poland, and all the lay offs. But it is so hard. While it seems I'll make it through the lay offs, people I worked with are no gone and their work has pretty much dropped into a black hole.
Sorry - whining - I have a job. Full stop. Be happy about that.
Happy birthday, Jilli!
