I just got the requirements for working from home in the next big storm instead of taking a day off because I choose not to be a traffic statistic. It should be easily doable, and I'll join the 21st century. The odds of another bad storm are slim this close to spring, but winter has been starting later and later the last few years, so it's good to have this option. And I can work in my slounging clothes! Or have Phryne Fisher on in the background (it would be chat support, because they won't plug private phones into the network).

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Are they gonna subsidize your internet?
No, but using it for work wouldn't affect my use costs. If I was home I'd be on the net anyway.
Yeah, but it goes from something you choose to have for your own reasons to something you have to have to do your job.
Shrug. Seeing what executives get to get reimbursed for (or just send the bills to be paid by the company) has made me really bitter about this stuff.
I am sorry we didn't make plans!
Np, it would have been difficult to find time anyhow.
Something broke today (not customer facing) during a push to production so now I'm in a bar trying to fix it.
And waiting on my pokey laptop.
My compensation for working from home would be not losing a day of PTO for not being willing to drive through a storm.
Timelies all!
Been kinda quiet here in Natter lately....
Yeah, well, that's a raw deal also, Connie. I'm not meaning to urge you specifically to take some kind of a stand, I'm just generally annoyed at the whole system.
In short, capitalism, feh.
Unrelatedly (or is it?) I just got my annual review because hourly employees get it earlier than salaried and my supervisor had it available so she wanted to give it to me while I'm here instead of sending copies back and forth through interoffice mail. 4 out of 5 stars, I guess that's good? No raise because I'm switching to salaried. When I accepted the salaried job I was told I would be eligible for a raise there, I don't know how that's going to work since this review covered both positions for the whole year. Whatevs.
Also got the list of accounts I'll be handling and it's pretty much a lot of special snowflakes who need their hands held often, so that'll be fun.
I had to abondon the hotel bar since the emergency alarm went off. The fire department arrived quickly and there are no signs of smoke so I'm pretty sure the hotel won't burn down. Still, it was way too noisy to work.
