Natter 75: More Than a Million Natters Served
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
DH could not get a Lyft, cab or Uber this morning, so he had to wake me up at 6:45am to drive him to the train station during a heavy snowstorm. Not my favorite way to start the day and the drive home was NOT FUN, but I did manage to get back to sleep for an hour or so. Poor guy felt terrible. Haven't done a damn thing all day, but I do have paperwork to get done tonight so I will accomplish something before I go to sleep. For his part, he got to ride to Chicago to the Auto Show in a private train car full of other journalists.
Tomorrow is my info meeting for starting work as a substitute teacher. Keep your fingers crossed that I pass muster. I am not very worried, the pay is very low and there is a shortage, so I hope I'm a shoo-in.
With the taxes on my mineral rights windfall about to be resolved, I'm thinking of a trip to Key West next year so I can visit the ocean. There are lovely places right on the harbor that would be wonderful places to sit and watch the ships. But the weather worris me. For some people, mid-70s for temperature and humidity is glorious, but to this desert dweller, humidity over 50% is hell. I'm hoping shade and breezes will be enough to counteract moisture. I never expected to become a desert creature.
I'm home. I brought my dad's ashes and every TSA person was nice to me and offered condolences.
Also, got a tooth pulled. It has a couple of extra roots. It's amazing how painful it was, but also how fast. Fast if you don't do bone graph etc, I guess.
"Eat it, SUCKERS!!!!"
It's been an incredible adventure, blah blah blah goodbyecakes.

If you're staying right on the water, the breezes are usually enough to balance out the humidity. Failing that, any place you stay will be air conditioned, so that you can retreat when the air starts to feel like a sodden sponge.
Scrappy, you'll have no problems. They'll jump on hiring you!
...I've seen some shit with subs. Hoo boy.
I'm planning on subbing starting in the fall. Wasn't quite ready this fall, but I think I'll be ok now. I'd do summer school but I frankly despise teaching summer school for all kinds of reasons, so...
IT'S HAPPENING EVERYWHERE!!!
HAHAHHA
Yeah, That settles it, I've got vacation brain already. Hang in there for 15 more minutes, self, it'll be okay.
Have fun subbing, Scrappy! I did that a million years ago - since I was willing to sub for any subject I got to do fun things like ESL and Art that I had no qualifications for but it didn't matter for the one day I was there.
I wish I were on vacation. I'm going to try to take a few hours off on Friday, which will be something?

Good luck, Scrappy!

Oh man, Kat! I'm so sorry -- you do not need one more thing.
Welcome home, Kat, sending lots of love to all of you

I endorse this plan. Not gonna lie, it is sticky, but always breezy too.
Good luck, Scrappy! I've considered subbing a number of times. Someday.
Apparently it is dentist time. I go tomorrow. Prep for implant for my missing tooth that mom nature didn't provide.
