Laura's watch and post food prep continues. Egg salad was made, but avocados weren't ready so I added black olives and sun dried tomatoes for a Mediterranean flair. Was pretty tasty with added black pepper on top.
I don't think I have seen any commercial previews for this game. Of course I haven't really watched any tv either, so not too surprising.
I haven't done the steaming, Plei, so I have to try that.
So good. I'll never go back. I know people do them in the Instant Pot, too, but a steamer basket is fine for me.
I think they would fit nicely in the steam basket of my rice cooker.
Just cold enough that there's ice on the trees and wires but roads and sidewalks are just wet. Feeling validated at staying in.
My best friend and his wife got me one of those ceramic microwave egg cookers for Christmas and it's vastly upped my egg consumption. Not boiled, of course, but cracking a couple of eggs into it and cooking for about 1:40 gets me one of those round egg mcmuffin patties.
Just back from my first ever block walking for politicians. I was out with the Dem candidate for State Senate, but had info on behalf of her, Dem state Rep candidate and a Dem US Rep candidate. Only the National Representative candidate has primary opponents, so this was mostly getting the base excited and contacted to GOTV for the general. We were only knocking on doors for addresses associated with voting in past Dem primaries, so not a ton of houses, but it was good and I will do it again. I hate hate hate my State Rep and feel I need to do anything I can to get him ousted.
I played with my Instant Pot a bit more today. It turns out that 15-minute risotto works out pretty well. [link] I added some thinly sliced carrots and red sweet pepper for extra veg and flavor. I also decided to make some gluten-free lemon bars to take to work tomorrow (not in an instant pot: [link] ). They're out of the oven and cooling now. And there was enough lemon juice left over for me to make a nice lemon drop cocktail. A bit early in the day for it, but hey, at least it's vitamin C.
ETA: Go msbelle!
So strangely, we discovered last year that all of the restaurants around us closed when the Super Bowl was on, which put a dent in our plans to eat something.
This year, we have prepared for that, but I'd like to go to Trader Joe's, and I don't know if grocery stores close too. I mean, I wouldn't think so, but I wouldn't have thought that restaurants would close.
Where were you living last year?
