So my mom saw her NP of 20+ years today, and is now on her way to see a cardiologist and a neuropsychologist. The former because her eldest sister went in for a routine checkup and they sent her straight to get a stent put in, and my mom's been experiencing what she calls pre-shortness of breath. She never actually gets there but feel like she's about to. So they're being proactive.
The latter....mom went in with a list of dislocation/memory issues she's been experiencing the last year or so and an email I sent (after offering and her accepting gratefully) describing things I'd seen. Apparently, my summation comparing memory to a database, and it's as if my mom's database index (and explaining indexes) has been corrupted was found to be both amusing and very useful to the NP. The neuropsych will do all the physical battery of tests, where a straight up neuro in the area wouldn't start there.
I'm proud of my mom for being so open about this. Dad doesn't want to talk about it, which I find frustrating. He's boots on the ground witness, he could provide important data, but he's denial noping hard. I get that, whooboy, I AM his daughter, and it isn't a new trait in him (see:stroke he probably had and just sent email detailing symptoms then got in a car and drove 300 miles.) But still , I want to bonk him. So I'm glad I could offer a partial view and her NP is taking it seriously.
And work was hair on fire. Again. It's wearing me out.
Go saramegs mom taking charge of her health!
Social media is awful and great at the same time. I can't quit you. And I'm sad when others do (I can't handle twitter, I'm on there maybe once a month, but I've pared fb down a bit and need to do some more)
Spent the weekend with my bestie and her wife and their adorable 8 month old. Went dancing twice. Saw a few local friends. And today got to go tour Skywalker Ranch thanks for a college friend of my friend's wife, who works for ILM. Pretty neat.
I've encountered rapant hatred of Sanders supporters. Don't know the particular thread you are talking about, but I've heard lots of people talking about how the fault for the Clinton defeat lies with the "hard left".
As to rapant Misogny, don't deny it. Don't see how anyone lacking it could vote for Trump. But doesn't mean it could not have been overcome by a different candidate. This election was lost in turnout. While nobody knows for sure what would have happened to a different candidate, the HRC campaign did an awful job of turnout. The Black community was supposed to be one of her special strengths compared to Sanders, yet she was unable to turn out the Black vote. Maybe giving how large a portion of the Black population are working class, middle class or poor, her weakness on class issues dampened enthusiasm among the Black general population in a way it did not among primary voters. As to Bernie being "destroyed" the same way Clinton was - not as much opportunity for last minute surprises.Sanders' radical past is out there on the public record, and proudly owned by him. Even if the big guns had tried to save things for the last minute, smaller right wing bloggers would have fired all the ammunition available within weeks of his nomination. He would have had one thing Clinton did not have - plenty of time to deal with the shitwave.
Typo, just please don't. Not right now. Please.
I think that social media can be used as a great tool to connect people locally. (for me, fb more than twitter). Like the event I went to tonight, a presentation by the police Citizen Advisory Board at a local coffee shop, I wouldn't have known about except through fb.
OK, or at least not here.
t edit
I'm sorry. I'm frustrated and angry, and I didn't mean to snap.
But honestly, a lot of us are angry and scared and, I'm pretty sure, would like to not jump into the partisan finger-pointing when it hasn't even been a week since the election.
Typo Boy I'm interested in hearing more of what you have to sat if you want to email me.
