Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Grr. Kudos to him for holding their feet to the fire.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Interesting. Our President just resigned in a not very good way, but I think he was more of a fall guy/didn't address issues than getting pushed out for pushing to address issues. If that word salad made any sense.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Grammar question!

Is it "There are a considerable number of Mexican restaurants in the area" or"There's a considerable number of Mexican restaurants in the area"

Ann, that's a ferret.

I've had "There is" and "There are" more or less drilled out of me. I'd say, "The area contains a considerable number of Mexican restaurants."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

"There are" sounds better.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think the question is, is "a number" singular or plural? I could argue either way, I bet.

Yeah, collective noun, right? Murky.

Hahaha, my supervisor wants my 5 Year Career Plan. Yeah, right, I totally have one of those.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Since I'd say "A number of restaurants are in the area," I'd go with "There are." But I like Fred's rephrasing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Rephrasing is often my solution.

I am out of sorts right now, which I know is because I'm more or less trying to do three jobs, but of course I'm not doing any of them well, and it's starting to catch up with me. AND in the meantime, I'm getting negative feedback on stuff my three-weeks-in staff member is doing WHICH IS FINE. The stuff she is doing is FINE. Jesus christ.

Sorry to hear that, Jesse. Chill out, other people.

10 minutes before I can leave - not enough time to start anything new I don't think
